If you're a fan of the legendary detective immortalized on paper by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, you'll have to give this a try.
As revealed over at the PlayStation Blog , the latest sleuthing effort from Frogwares is coming this year to the PS3 and PS4.
Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments unsurprisingly focuses on investigation, but there's also a strong narrative as well. Exploration and clue-collecting is part of the adventure, as is speaking to witnesses and suspects. The key is to assess all gathered information and do what Holmes does best: Deduce! There will be six different cases; that may not sound like a lot, but remember that each case has up to six separate conclusions!
The developer is implementing new gameplay mechanics, such as "character portrait," which is reminiscent of what we did in L.A. Noire during interrogation. Basically, this skill allows you to "observe and examine their general look in order to unlock their mind, unveiling new clues." For the very first time in the series, Holmes (aka you) could be wrong, and innocents will be sent to jail.
Another interesting factor involves condemning or absolving the culprit. Your decision will impact future investigations, by the way. Think you're up to the challenge? The last effort, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes , was pretty good; it just lacked some diversity and personality.
