When an anticipated title comes out at the end of a console generation, the fans almost always ask: "Gonna put it on the new systems?"
Well, unfortunately for Dark Souls followers, the developer's answer – at least for the time being – is "no." Edge asked Dark Souls II co-director Yui Tanimura if the team had given any thought to bringing the upcoming sequel to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
"We have not put any thought into this yet, so I unfortunately can’t answer at this point."
This begged the question- How come From Software didn't make DSII for next-gen consoles in the first place? Tanimura explained that they wanted to capture the full potential of the previous machines (PS3 and Xbox 360), and they also wanted to give fans the sequel "as soon as possible." Dark Souls II is scheduled to arrive on March 11, 2014 in North America and three days later in Europe.
This doesn't mean DSII on the PS4 and Xbox One won't ever happen, but it certainly seems unlikely for now.
