It's great that Hitman will remain faithful to the franchise's roots. That's reassuring news for those who thought developer IO Interactive was changing the game into an action-oriented third-person shooter.

But here's even more good news for the veteran hardcore fans. IO will include a special difficulty mode in the upcoming Hitman: Absolution , and it's bound to test your skills. Furthermore, you will be required to play in "true stealth assassin style," so prepare to be patient and cunning. Lead producer Hakan Abrak told Eurogamer that if you wish to nab the stealth assassin-related achievements, you'll have to "solve challenges in a smarter way." Said Abrak:

"We have a lot of difficulty levels in the game as well. Rest assured, the hardcore fans that like to have replayablity value in the game or want to have this stealth assassin – you know, I'm the ultimate stealth assassin – that playing style, those achievements, are very much in the game.

There's a huge replayability value in it and we have some features in the game I cannot speak about that will enhance this and make this easier, and heighten the replayability value for the hardcore players as well."

The name of this special hardcore difficulty level? Well, it does have a cool name…they just won't tell us what it is yet. But Abrak said it'll "please the hardcore fans." So if you've been a follower of the Hitman franchise from the beginning and you intend to go all stealth, you might just want to play Absolution on this "hardcore" setting.

Definitely what I want to hear.
I never did mind that they wanted to entice newcomers with some features that amount to pandering or hand-holding, so long as the majority of fans who have been with the franchise for a while could still play the game without feeling alienated.

Do they explicitly state whether this setting is available from the get-go, or are we just supposed to assume that since they're discussing it? Because honestly, I hate when developers lock the hardest difficulty setting until you complete the game on a lesser one.

this keeps getting better and better!
just one request.
when were talking hardcore true stealth can we please not have the deliberately flawed aiming system of the original splinter cell?
thats what put me off playing the collection, whats the point of aiming if your bullets are not going to go where you aim?
if i had a nickel for every time i aimed at a enemys head and fired and it ended up missing id be, well, you get the point by now.
