The Darkness was a lot of fun. And although a different developer (Top Cow) is handling the sequel, we still have really high hopes.

An evil entity simply called "The Darkness" has invaded the body of Jackie Estacado. Being a guy who often has to kill for a living, the bond actually wasn't a bad fit. But then the mafia targeted Jackie (we're not sure why) and they took the one thing he cared about: his girlfriend, Jenny. With her death, Jackie goes a little nuts…and The Darkness loves it. Here's our best look yet at the long-awaited sequel, which features not two, but four demon arms. That oughta be interesting.

It's slated to release in February and that may seem like a long wait, but time flies. The timing isn't bad; having it release during the packed fall schedule might've been suicidal. This game needs a fighting chance to succeed and if it's as entertaining as the first title, we say it deserves any success it gets.

I've heard people b!tching about the stylized look of this sequel. I personally think it looks pretty b!tchin! I enjoyed the first, given the minor graphical and control issues of a 2007 release and Xbox360 to PS3 port. Hopefully the gameplay will rock and the storyline is fully fleshed out and epic.

I didn't realize you were such a fan of The Darkness. I have it here somewhere but never popped it in. I guess I should give it a quick run through to see what you're talking about.

The Darkness was cool.

However, fair warning: that's the type of game that will look VERY dated by today's standards.

Yeah, imo it looked fairly dated already at launch.
But I totally loved the atmosphere in this game. And hopefully that atmosphere has stood the test of time better than the actual graphics.

That's February 10, 2012; a European release date. It comes out here three days earlier.

The game was delayed, remember?

Don't worry Cobb, we europeans find american date format confusing too. 🙂
