Rumor: Silent Hill: Downpour Pushed Back To 2012

Earlier this year, Konami revealed that Vatra's Silent Hill effort would arrive in October.

And up until recently, we really believed the game would arrive next month. However, according to a European source , Silent Hill: Downpour has been delayed until 2012.

Evidence can be found at Amazon.de, which now lists the game with a February 15 date, while other sources have said it won't arrive until March. Now, despite their attempts to spice things up with that Korn-infused trailer , the majority of feedback has been skeptical or downright negative. We like the look of the game's cut-scenes and the overall potential, but seeing the game in action is a little underwhelming. So if this delay is indeed true, we're fairly certain we know the reason…Vatra needs some time to add a lot of polish.

We really need a great Silent Hill this generation. We've been missin' that.

Considering the avalanche of premiere titles en route, that is a smart move on their part.

These days I get glad when I hear a game getting delayed. Leaves room for others.

I had some interest this but I'm actually happy this game is getting pushed back. That way I can pick up and focus on a few other games.

At least early 2012 won't be lacking games.

Agreed. I've really been missing a good old fashioned survival horror game (not that the last few SH games have fit the bill). I'm beginning to think that the genre is dead 🙁

I'm glad if they are delaying it for more polish and also it will avoid the fall rush of too many great games

Damnit, they should push it back even further than that! That means that it goes head to head with Twisted Metal and Binary Domain, with Inversion coming only a week before it. The folks at Konami cannot seriously be that silly, especially considering that the game is looking decidedly unimpressive, as much as it pains me to say that.

I just hope that Vatra can pull it together and blow our socks off with a real SH experience (you take that as Silent Hill or Survival Horror, neither have yet managed to impress me of what I've played).

but all the retail stores still have october 19 pencilled in.
hell, EB has agent listed as a 2011 release!
……. yea, something tells me that aint right………

Good, lets hope they give it a complete facelift, as I have not been impressed so far. I hope they just change the title to Downpour, its not a Silent Hill game.

Gone watching Silent hill…….

Pretty underwhelming , don t feel too much like a silent hill game .Pushing it was a smart move with all the games coming out soon it would probably barely sell .

Will we at least see the Silent Hill HD collection arrive this October? Because I'm more interested in that.

I'm totally new to the Silent Hill series and was hoping to pick up downpour, but after the negative impressions given by veterans of the series its making me hesitant, and I hadn't heard of them doing Silent Hill HD Remakes until now. I really hope they do release these, or release them soon if they've already announced development on them. Survival Horror is such a great, pulse-pounding genre and it has been somewhat abandoned this generation.

I'd love to read more info on these remakes if someone has a source, I'd be greatful!
