Shadows Of The Damned Japanese Box Art Censored

Well, maybe EA thought they could get away with it in Japan.

After the Japanese box art for Grasshopper Manufacture's Shadows of the Damned made the Internet rounds a few months ago, people took notice.

After all, you don't normally see an exposed rear on the cover of a game. What you see here is the original art; it shows the hero Garcia Hotspur holding his girlfriend, Paula, who just so happens to be clad in skimpy lingerie. Hotspur braves hell to save her and the game is absolutely loaded with potentially offensive stuff, so the image fits.

But it doesn't matter, as according to Examiner.com , EA has now censored the racy box art. They've just blocked out Paula's attractive rear end; you can see the difference in the screenshots through the link. Well, they probably could've gotten away with a blood-dripping severed head, but that much flesh is usually a no-no in most any region.

By the way, please don't let the comments degrade into a general debate about censorship. That just never ends well.

His relationship with her in that game was hilarious, he found her in a dumpster.

That's not even a bare ass, there's some panty in that crack.

Iirc, the 360 cover was censored from the beggining. People were comparing them. As long as the game itself isn't censored, I can overlook that.

Having looked at the slide show, it's nice to see that EA is promoting strong female characters and totally not exploiting the female character sexually, or based on her appearance….

Much.

I don't think the human spine can actually bend like that. She's working really hard to get that booty in the picture, they should show it.

How I never woulda thought "Japan" and "censored" would ever be in the same sentence

Then you don't know much about Japan, there are certain things that they censor there, that are not censored here, and vice versa.

well i know they censor pubic hiars but other than that… theyre anime has naked ppl, cursing excessive blood and other stuff that the US could only get away with on premium cable chznnels.. and sometimes not even then (i seriously doubt that last scene in hostel 2 was shown in theatres)… yet the box art of shadows of the damned was too much for them?

I finished this game not to long ago. Very funny and original. I'm really looking forward to Suda 51's next game Lollipop Chainsaw.

Oh for crying out loud EA, everyone can clearly see that she's wearing a G-string.

I mean, even Stevie Wonder can clearly see that.
