Call of Duty DLC always arrives earlier for Xbox 360 fans, but PlayStation 3 owners have something to crow about, too.
DICE Jr. Product Manager Tommy Rydling gave us some great Battlefield 3 information over at the PlayStation Blog .
First, he reminded us of the open beta dates for the PlayStation Netweork: the test starts on September 29 and runs through October 10. You can join just by going to the PlayStation Store and downloading the BF3 demo (that's the beta). We'll be running around the "bombed-out metro tunnels on the outskirts of Paris;" sounds like fun! You're also in the beta if you redeemed a Medal of Honor: Limited Edition or Tier 1 Edition Online Pass; this actually lets you participate a few days early on September 27.
In addition, PS3 fans get a bonus: starting with the first expansion pack – Back to Karkand, set to be released later this year – all new packs for BF3 "will appear one week early exclusively on PS3." So yeah, Modern Warfare 3 DLC will come to Microsoft's console first but if you're more of a Battlefield 3 fan, you might want the PS3 version, so you can grab those packs a week early.

The MW3/BF3 conflict continues..
It will continue for a long time i think
… And it's almost looking like it is about to transform into a ps3 vs x360 fight too.
A week exclusivity seems a bit weak…though, better than EA telling us that they inked the deal with MS instead.
Am I the only one who never got mad or upset about COD stuff arriving earlier on 360? While this is nice it's hardly a deal maker/breaker for me on any game
Im not mad, but thats because I don't really care for COD
I'm sure a trophy hunter doesn't care about a lot of things.
Same, stuff like that doesn't effect me. Hell, even my friends don't care about early DLC. I have a lot of patience so I can wait doesn't matter to me.
Well I guess thats great news, doesn't change my life and shouldn't for others as well. And I'm pretty sure the first DLC pack is free when you pre-order BF3
It may only be a week but that's better than nothing, it's great to see Dev's supporting the PS3, especially for this years top Military FPS. Yes you get "Back to Karkland" free for pre-order and Battlefield 1943 for buying BF3. An astounding deal.
I'm wondering if Sony paid for this or if EA is simply countering MW's exclusive nature on the 360.
Interesting question but I don't really see why this would benefit EA… Only value I can think of is that it has a marketing value for Sony. So I think it must be a deal with them?
This is a D1P for shure.
Ugh, I didn't care for it when CoD did it and I don't care for it now. Timed exclusivity is a waste of time.
Agreed. This practice is horrible (though a week of exclusivity makes this example pretty mild…and pointless) and I remain opposed to it regardless of the perpetrator.
lol DLC
I really am not a fan of this practice no matter which console/product you own. If a consumer pays the same amount, for the same product, they should get the same support! Now, if they want to charge $40-$50 for the PS3 version of MW3 and $60 for the X360 version and vice versa with BF3, I'm cool with that.

I don't really care that we get it before 360, just the fact that 360 does not get it first. I would be perfectly happy if both consoles got it at the same time. This exclusivity crap is ridiculous.
This is Sony paying for the exclusivity. Anyone that is on the fence as to what console to buy BF3 on will see this news and possibly be swayed towards Sony. Also, some people may think the game will be better on the PS3 now that EA is favoring Sony even though it is a slight nepotism. I know it probably doesn't matter but it may look this way to other less informed gamers.
With COD ELITE on the market, there had BEST not be this whole xbox gets it first especially since people are paying 50.00 for Elite. That should place EVERYONE on a level playing field…but as with all things Activision, I wouldn't put it past them to continue their illicit love affair with xobx.
At least EA is being gracious and doing it by one week….one month is just absurd.
Doesn't matter to me as I was buying it on the PS3 anyways. I'm also not buying COD this year and putting my more towards something else that will deserve it more like maybe Rage.
This issue is doing EA a big favour though.
Something tells me BF3 will be one of the biggest seller this year and it's gonna stop MW3 from breaking any records.
A week?! ONE week?? Mwahahahaaa… How petty do they think we are?
how ironic.
i still remember the other day when dyer had a pot shot at M$ because of all the exclusive DLC they had inferring it was a waste of money.
then they go do the exact same thing!
what a bunch of hypocrites!
while antivision and bethesda have been in bed with M$, EA has been getting it on with $ony.
i wish all this BS platform timed exclusives would stop!
its just unfair to the fans.
you should be saying thank you for buying our game!
not f*ck you for buying our game on the wrong platform!
