The Call of Duty Elite service for fans of Activision's blockbuster franchise has already been detailed, but we never really knew what to expect from the top membership tier.
If you're willing, the subscription service will deliver all sorts of extra content, including multiplayer maps, spec ops missions, and new game modes. Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg has confirmed that full-year access for the premium Elite subscription will run you $50.
Those who don't wish to pay will receive free content but if you hand over the fifty bucks, you get additional perks, like access to all pieces of DLC, delivered on a monthly basis. If you're wondering, the total cost of all that DLC would run you $60 without the subscription. As for signing up, you'll automatically be enrolled if you pick up the Hardened Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ; it will cost you $99.99 but it includes a lifetime founder status in the Elite service.
Furthermore, premium Elite members will be allowed to participate in competitions for prizes (both real and virtual). As an example, Activision plans to give away a special CoD-themed Jeep to a lucky Call of Duty Elite beta participant. Plus, paid members can level up clans and receive 8 times more video-capture capacity, and they can view strategy and analysis from some of the best players in the world. You don't want to miss Elite TV, either, which features episodic content and guys like Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Ridley and Tony Scott.
So, plan to sign up?
