RPG fans are anxious to see how BioWare attacks the third Dragon Age .

For a better idea of the studio's plans, check out a summary of BioWare creative director Mike Laidlaw's PAX presentation over at NeoGAF . It involves the team's work on downloadable content and hints for Dragon Age III .

There's a wealth of information there but we'll touch on the highlights- it seems the "new mantra" concerning combat (for upcoming DLC) includes "preparation, teamwork, and positioning." Essentially, they want battle to become "incredibly tactical," and that involves taking advantage of character strengths and weaknesses, and putting them in the correct positions.

They also talked about the increased size and scope of their new project. After the crowd laughed at how small Kirkwall was in comparison to the entire Dragon Age world, Laidlaw showed a map that was "easily four or five times larger" than Ferelden. So yeah, expect bigger when the franchise continues.

Last but not least is the apparent return of full customization. We were one of many sources that criticized the lack of armor customization for all characters in DAII, but Laidlaw showed a shot of Meryl with all new pieces of equipment. Many believe this won't be implemented in upcoming DLC, but will make it into the third Dragon Age III .

Yes, please bring back the armor. And open exploration, among other things.

I still have not yet played 2 1/2 dragon age games ( I'm counting the extention pack for the first as a half ) but I would love to.

Unfurtunatly, I know if I were to pick either of them up they would just join my back log. I own oblivion, demons souls, and 2 worlds 2 and have yet to beat them. They world that is white knight sucked me in too far and I've yet to return, prepping for white knight 2.

From my perspective:

The story on the first Dragon Age is significantly better as is the customization for your characters. The environment variety is also superb.

Outside of that, I preferred Dragon Age II in everything else.

the Kirkwall Champion and Hero of Ferelden will team up in some way shape or form (probably by meeting with the new hero of DAIII) to deal with the Templar versus Apostate stuff last I learned.

I can't wait to finally see Orlais. I hope the combat goes back to what it once was. And I wish there was some way to get my Origins save off my old hard drive so when I finally get DAIII my original save can bring him back. He was a real hero.
