Not like this would surprise anyone, given the popularity of the games in question.
As noted by Examiner.com , the French arm of Amazon.com has listed four "Platinum Range" PlayStation 3 titles; that's the equivalent of our Greatest Hits.
Therefore, it appears Europe will be receiving Platinum versions of Gran Turismo 5 , Killzone 3 , LittleBigPlanet 2 , and MotorStorm: Apocalypse . They will hold the discounted price of 24.98 Euros (about $36) and that should help boost sales for the established and critically acclaimed games. Here, we should expect all four to arrive on the Greatest Hit roster at some point, although we might have to wait for Apocalypse . That one just released here in North America in June, and games typically have to be on the market for a while before they qualify as a Greatest Hit.
Last we checked, it was 9 months, and the game needed to sell at least a half million copies. That may be different now but if a title still needs that 9-month time frame, MotorStorm will have to wait. The other three are definitely possible for September and October, as GT5 came out in November of 2010, LBP2 launched on January 18, and KZ3 arrived on February 22. And of course, our price for Greatest Hits games is $29.99.
Still need to pick up KZ3. What's the difference between the original and greatest hits, when it comes to the same games for particular.

You get the exact same game. The only difference is that it will have the red case. It's not like a game of the year addition where they put in extras.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I also suspect if the game becomes a true classic it will worth less $$ on ebay 10+ years from now than a day of release copy. If only I had held onto my friends non GH version of FFVII. My GH version is only going for about half the price of release day copy.
Still have my non-GH Final Fantasies for PS1 🙂 They are priceless.
I love my new collection! =D
but these games just came out a couple months ago.
were they not good enough?
A couple means "two" =p
None of which released 2 months ago
GT5 – Nov. '10
LBP2 – Jan '11
KZ3 – Feb. '11
Motorstorm – Mar. '11 (EU) May 11' (US) The whole Japanese disaster messed with this one.
ok, well it wasn't out that long, that's what i'm really trying to say
If you actually knew what the term "greatest hit" meant, you wouldn't be asking that question. To help you out, a game must have been on the market for 10 months and have sold at least 500,000 copies within 2 years of release. Therefore, the games on this list have done really well considering it hasn't been that long since release. Just sayin'
Well in my opinion greatest hits to me means, it didn't sell well, and the price drop says it didn't sell as much as they wanted it to sell.
It's the opposite gangag, it means it sold so well and is so great it's a "greatest hit".
well you believe what you want, and I'll believe what i want, and it's gangan
-_- No, it is a fact that greatest hits are games that sold well and are now discounted for their huge popularity. Are you trying to say GTA 4 (greatest hit) didn't sell well? Or oblivion. Or Uncharted 1-2. List is pretty long and alot of them sold really really well. So there your theory doesn't stand strong. But business being as it is… lets say at least 90% of greatest hits are there because they sold well, and I am ready to conceive Sony would want to push some sales on a quality game they did not sell as much has they would like. But apart from Apocalypse, I don't see any other.
Games that blow end up in the dump bin with a 9.97 or 19.97 (liquidation) price tag. And the sales guy will even give you half price on it cuz he wants it out so bad.

Sorry Homie, but this one isn't about beliefs or opinions. Just lettin ya know, not bein mean about it.
ok
I'm proud to say I picked up all of these, save LBP2, for full price, including also Infamous 2. (well, sort of, Amazon gave me the hook up with credits etc.)
I'm hoping Sony gives "InFamous 2" the same 39.99 holiday treatment like they did with part one.
You can get it for that much online right now.
Ah here we go, might have to pick up GT5 once this goes into effect.
Someone needs to inform Highlander of this. All I ever see him playing is WKC, seriously? I bought that on Day1 and it quickly went downhill from there.
He's addicted to the online, he must want a platinum
I have someone exactly like that on my friends list as well. All I ever see him/her play is WKC. I played it quite a bit, but similar to you guys, didn't stay with it for more than a month. I think I beat it twice to get some special equipment or something? Can't remember.
Holy crap, from my phone I just read EA has secured sole US military rights for video games at gamrfeed. Oh man the crap is gout to fly now, like forever
Thanks for the find, just finished reading up on it. This could have huge implications.
I think it's suppose to be a joke. 😛

Source:: satire 😉
Great titles at great prices, what's not to like?
Great titties at great prices you say? Oh wait no..you didn't say that..woops
Yellow tits are yellow
Lol. 🙂
I should get around to Motorstorm Apocalypse.
Yes, you should. It was pretty good. One of my favorites of this year. 🙂
I feel like these games got thrashed sale wise except for GT5 and possibly LBP2.
Looking at KZ3 sales to Kz2…ouch… 🙁
The only one I need is Killzone 3, but I don't think that will be making the Greatest Hits any time soon. Europe's games usually make it about a year before America.
I already have Heavenly Sword but c'mon man, why did that never make it? I say add trophies and re-release that game as a GH. As interested as I am in DmC it doesn't look like anybody else is going to buy it.

Out of those, GT5 will be the only one which will have a drastic difference between the release version, and the GH version. That is assuming, the GH version of GT5 will have the latest patch installed. This would be great for those that don't have internet connection to download the patches.
Seriously, the game has evolved a lot since then, and it looks like it won't slow down anytime soon. This is one game that to Kaz, hasn't met his expectation, so expect continued support on it.
xD I miss read you saying the game Apocalypse, I thought you were referring to the 2012 hoax at first lol. If all games are cheaper around 30 something dollars then Ill probably pick them all up.
sweet!
nice to see them hitting the requirements so soon.
dident KZ3 only sell 400K as of july?
could of swore i read a article saying that.
eh, all ill say is thank god GG are working on a new IP now!
Great news! I still need to pick up Killzone 3… These price cuts though may show that Sony is under some pressure in trying to make as much money as possible out of the stock they have. Not so easy with the economy the way it is.
The price cuts will go some way in probably shifting more PS3 units, so it could help there. Add these top games at these reduced pricing levels, and you may have quite a good combination in shifting more units…
Interesting!
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
I have all those games but I hope somebody that didn't buy them earlier takes a chance on them. All were fun games to me.
I think $29.99 is way to expensive for exclusive pricing, microsoft's platinum hits vary by retailer. I have seen gears 2 for $20 brand new as original price about a year ago.
All Greatest Hits should be $19.99.
