Longevity is a big deal for gamers, especially when it comes to making difficult choices during the holiday season.
Therefore, developer DICE plans to give players a lot to do. Battlefield 3 launches on October 25 and while there's always the multiplayer to enhance the experience, there will also be a ton of unlocks. In fact, they're bragging about years worth of unlocks ; 10 times more than there were in Bad Company 2 . More weapons, weapon attachments, gadgets, awards, service stars, and a gigantic unlock tree for various vehicles. DICE says they want gamers to have as much fun on launch day as they do in 2013…if they can somehow pull that off, we'll be ecstatic. And hey, maybe this will alleviate some of the pain concerning that extra fee for online play. But you'll get the game new, anyway, right?
The more incentive we have to keep playing a game, the more likely we are to pay $60. DICE seems to be on the right track with BF3.
