Grasshopper Manufacture produced Shadows of the Damned and while solid, it hasn't fared well on the sales charts.
However, it seems the team has put that behind them and are already hard at work on their next project. According to Siliconera , the developers are cranking on Lollipop Chainsaw , a bizarre spin on the standard zombie-killing formula. Famitsu has revealed the game; you play as Juliet, a student at San Romero High, and she's descended from a long line of zombie hunters. Her weapon? Yeah, you guessed right. And as a cheerleader, she also has plenty of acrobatic skills that will definitely help her battle the undead…you'll actually use cheerleading moves in the game. Oh, and when you kill a zombie, pink blood will splatter the screen. It's all sorts of "pop-y," in other words.
Kadokawa Games will distribute the product in Japan; the game is in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The question is whether or not EA will sign on again to publish Lollipop Chainsaw in North America. Shadows was the first Japanese-developed game to be produced by EA, and maybe they haven't been overly impressed with the results.
Sounds like it will have a similar sense of humour to Beyonetta, which I did not like what so ever.
*fist bump*
Color me interested, if that is a color.
It could be, but what color would it be. o.o?
apparently that color is pink.
I like pink, the color that is.
not the pop star?
That would be "P!nk".
Haha – lovely title!
Love zombies, love cheerleaders, didn't love Shadows. And I need my blood to be red or it's just no fun. If the game ends up looking awesome somehow I'll wait on a price drop, but Grasshopper has to expand their minds a bit as Shadows was incredibly confined. I did appreciate the wild imagination involved though.
Not really interested in killing zombies – not too different than killing the slow generic demons in shadows.
Shadows seemed interesting. This just seems like all those Z-list Japanese action movies, like Machine Girl… NOPE!
It does sound extremely cheesy, yeah. 😀
Aw come on, Machine Girl was all sorts of fun, lol.
Shadows would be good at a solid $20
I just might take a shot with this game when it comes out. It looks like it's going be alot of fun.
I like these types of games, so I will gladly play Lollipop Chainsaw, but I still have to play Shadows Of The Damned. I'll probably get it soon.
idk, me playing this game would be creepy. Ya know, 'old man tickling you with his beard' kinda creepy.
sounds really qwirky, just hope its not as repetetive as shadows of the damned!
really enjoyed the first hour of the game, till i found out the rest of the game is a repeat of the last.
i mean how many boss battles can you squeeze in that are exactly the same!?
dunno WTF has happened to developers latley, wheres all the variety gone?
one new level cut and pasted 10 times does not a new game make!
When I first heard of this game yesterday, the first thing I thought was that this was the next No More Heroes sans Travis Touchdown. Reading some of the articles talking about the game, it confirmed my suspicion which I'm okay with that because I loved No More Heroes…have anyone seen the photos? What's with the disembodied head attached to the cheerleader's waist? Bizarre stuff like that will ALWAYS catch my attention; that's part of the reason I'm interested in Catherine.
