Yet another promising title adopts an October launch date, and we can already feel our wallets beginning to sweat.
But in the case of Kylotonn's The Cursed Crusade , we won't have to shell out quite as much. Atlus has revealed that the new action/RPG will sport an agreeable $39.99 price tag, which means that when it arrives on October 11 in the US, it has a better chance of leaving store shelves.
You can catch more details at the game's official website , where you'll find a series of informative developer diaries. Here's one trailer for you; it's called "Templar's Curse" and offers more footage than we've ever seen before.
So what do you think? Does Atlus have a winner on their hands? You're not suddenly skeptical due to the budget-like price tag, are you?

Man I've been following this game since it was 1st announced, so I will definitely be picking this up it looks great and for only $40 that's a steal.

I am now extremely skeptical. It looks like a good game but a major price drop close to release usually means it didn't turn out very good.
Or it could be that Batman on the 18th of October which is like the week after this game comes out. If they want to compete with that they had to do something, I mean think about it World if people had to choose between spending $60 for this or a sequel to a [email protected]$$ superhero game that just about everyone loved, chances are people are gonna save they're money & go with Batman:AC. I think they did the right thing buy making it more affordable.

I don't think a price cut on a game has ever been predicated on the release of another.
The 2K5 NFL and NBA games were $20 in order to combat EA's games, which of course released at the same time. They were also better games.
But I'll forgive you for overlooking sports games; I know they're not your thing. ;P

After seeing the trailer, the game looks pretty good to me.
It looks alright, but I'm still not sold–even with the new price. Let's be honest here, if anyone is looking for a game like Demon's Souls–which this seems to be–around October, they'll likely get Dark Souls instead.
I don't think it's actually like that at all, the focus is co-op action and it wont be nearly as hard.
News to me. It looks interesting.
I've never heard of it but I'm interested. I'd like to see proper gameplay footage before I commit.
I'd like to see this B-Grade pricing model become more prevalent for retail games. This is either the 2nd or 3rd title I've seen recently to pitch itself at a lower price point.
I really hope it sells well.
There like 2 different trailers that have gameplay in it.
Here is one of them:

Yay! See, this is what needs to be done to entice gamers to second tier games. I want to see more of this, and The Cursed Crusade, based on what I know of it, is actually sounding pretty good, though this could be an indication that it won't be.
Euro date?
ANOTHER one for october!?
ahhhhhhh, guys yo do realize that games are allowed to release outside of september – november right?
last time i checked the stores dont close down during the winter months………
Dude, this has been the best year ever for "off-season" games, topping last year which was at the time the best year ever.
I swear you'd complain that there was one tiny cloud in a bright blue sky…or that the sky was too blue.
Also, you have your seasons reversed. Is your world just upside down?
(Fane1024 apologises to our other residents of the southern hemisphere; the joke was just too apropos.)

the best game thats released this month is the green lantern.
that really better then last year?
dam, must of been one bloody slow year!
had 3 crappy movie tie in games this month, i wouldent even buy them as presents.
"best year" not "best July"
DCUO
ME2
LBP2
DS2
MvC3
Killzone 3
FN Champion
MLB 11
DA2
Yakuza 4
Crysis 2
MK
Portal 2
SOCOM 4
MS Apocalypse
LA Noire
inFAMOUS 2
Deus Ex
Yeah, they don't release *any* quality games outside September – November.
July and August are the only months this year that *Sony* isn't releasing at least one AAA first-party game, not even counting third-party exclusives and multi-plats.

I wasn't going to get this game but since its only 40 bucks. Im getting it so that other developers see their stock rise and start dropping the price of new games 60 bucks too much I rather wait for like a year then get the collectors edition for cheap on amazon
I guess it's price is low because it's either a niche game or it won't be worth sh*t. Prbably both 😛
WOW, I always see a lot of complainer's about games being too high at $60, and here's one that comes out for a nice 1/3off $40 price tag.
I'm not really into RPG type games, so I wouldn't know how good it will be/might be, but I think this is perfect timing to show all the developers & publishers your buying power towards a much lower pricing policy.
And who knows, if this game gets great sales, it could lead to a few others opening their eyes and rethinking some sort of future game release price drops too.
FYI, another thing you need to remember for all of you that played on the very first Playstation console, was that while most games were still $50/$60 even back then in 2000, Zombie Studio's & Gotham Games had put out a brand new PS1 game that released for only $9.99.
It was called "Spec Ops: Stealth Patrol" and granted, the graphics were a bit rough, but at $30/$40 cheaper than everyone else, it still wound up a great bang for both my buck and I'm sure for who ever else bought it too.
The other "plus side" of this cheap game was that "Take 2" then took over and published 3 more Spec Ops games that I know of(and still own), SO:Ranger Elite, SO: Covert Assault, & SO: Airborne Command for that same cheap price of $9.99.
"And we all know how big Take-2 has become".
BTW, Although it certainly won't be selling for $9.99 anymore, I'm still awaiting for Take-2 to bring out Spec Ops: The Line, supposedly sometime in early to mid 2012.

"I'm not really into RPG type games, so I wouldn't know how good it will be/might be"
It's more of an Action/Adventure than an Rpg it might have rpg elements though.
@Biker Saint
wow, I remember spec ops lol. I once had a chance either go to the movies or getting black ops. I choose black ops.
Cursed Crusade does look good and affordable.
