You gotta spend money to make money.
EA has been pushing Battlefield 3 at every possible turn and everyone is eagerly awaiting the heavyweight fight between DICE's potentially amazing product and Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 . The sales battle may be a foregone conclusion but that won't stop EA from pushing like crazy .
According to a recent investor update from Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, EA will spend between $45 and $50 million on marketing and advertisement…all for the sake of BF3. Also, don't forget that EA's game gets the drop on MW3 as it launches a few weeks earlier on October 25. Pachter has also said the new CoD could break sales records set by last year's Black Ops , so EA is going to need all the help they can get.
Perhaps this massive marketing budget is part of the reason why the analyst thinks EA could steal away some CoD fans . Either way, it should be interesting.
