If we were to rank this rumor on the probability scale, we'd be forced to put it on the low end.

Even so, considering the fact that we've been waiting for many, many years, we suppose the end might finally be in sight. According to an "inside source" as cited by GotGame , Diablo III might launch in November of this year. That's right, November 2011. Of course, the source says they're "pushing" to hit that release window, with Blizzard employees "working from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily to finish polishing content." We haven't the slightest idea what GotGame is talking about regarding Activision Blizzard's "common" secrecy ploy concerning new titles (that's a…bizarre observation), but we'll let that slide. The bottom line is that Diablo III might finally be on the fast track.

There's still no knowing whether or not the long-anticipated RPG will arrive for consoles as well as PC, but multiple pieces of evidence have suggested D3 will indeed arrive for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Is it smart to release in November when so many other great games are also releasing?

They might be better off pushing it to December or early next year…

Actually, releasing Diablo III in November wouldn't hurt Blizzards sales at all. Yes, most gamers generally play multiple gaming types and titles, but MW3 and BF3 are both completely different gaming types.

All in all, Diablo and Blizzard in general probably has the most die-hard and loyal fans in the gaming community. Diablo III can be released tomorrow and it's projected sales will be met, the people who want this game, are going to get it and they will get it before MW3, BF3 or any game alike.

The facts are facts, if you love/played Diablo, or any Blizzard game, if it is going to be released, no matter what is being released at the same time, that is the game they are going to get. Expect to see sales similar to that of WoW, if not more.

November is a really really bad idea. Maybe they are working on it too much because they seem to forget big papa is out Nov 1 along side with Mw3 on Nov 8.

what are you all talking about. november will become bad for all those other games. D3 has been expected for A LONG TIME. If i have to choose ill skip on MW3 or any other.

Those other games pale in comparison. There are way more Diablo fans than cod fans out there even if alot stopped playing.. many of them are just waiting for something new.

Exactly, don't know what everyone else thinks, but this PC game, will be one of the most anticipated and bought games. People have been waiting for plenty of years for this, and anything with a blizzard following will be bought up without question.

Very much agreed. Lets not forget D2 is a game that is STILL selling all these years later. It's one of the few PC games I see at walmart nowadays. The Diablo franchise caters to the hardcore PC gamers more so than console gamers anyways, and it is in a genre that is basically non-existent this generation, so IMO it doesn't seem fair to compare it to the other November releases. It will still sell well to the other, neglected gamers that have been hurting this gen for a quality RPG, if not just because of the name. If the rumor of being on consoles is true, then that can only help.

I don't think so. AB knows that it can release Diablo at anytime and get sales out the wazoo, so why would they try for the holiday market and risk taking sales from CoD?

Well they could always push back MW3 instead 😀 😀 😀

To be frank, if they release both the games at the same time, it isn't going to hurt their sales at all. The people who buy FPS, probably don't play games like Diablo, and vica versa, the ones that do, they will likely get both. I play both types, but I would play Diablo over MW any day. Better replay value.

Where games like MW need new releases every year or so, Diablo II has been around for 11 years and still sees regular new purchases and well over 300,000 regular on-line players globally. During it's peak, I remember seeing well over 2,000,000 players per region. US West, East, Asia, Europe, etc.

Blizzard/Activision are rolling in fat RL loots, no matter what they release, or when they release it.

Would be nice if they decided to push it back to the summer lull months of next year, when only a handful of must have titles come out. But I do believe Lawless is right, Diablo could release at any time and it will sell like gangbusters.

As long as the game comes out at the end of this year or in the beginning of next year.

Ill be needing to get a computer with a decent graphics chip before school starts in September. I look forward to having access to Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.
I was a major fan of Warcraft 3 back in the day. A bud and I would compete online together in 2vs2 ranked matches. We did pretty good. It's amazing how much depth goes into their strategy games. I particularly like the "real time" component intermixed with the strategy, as the element of precision timing becomes a variable to consider while playing.
I remember playing with some friends who liked to only play against the computer. Their idea of strategy was to bunker down and build up a fortified base and mass tons of griffons, or some other tier 3 unit, but seeing that strategy vs a computer compared to human is nearly entirely different, their method would mean their death before they even produced their first tier 3 unit in player vs player matches. It's all about scouting the enemy and adapting your strategy to counter theirs. Becomes a tactical game of tug and way, observing that right instance were you take the advantage and majorly exploit a weakness to their army.
Anyway, just reminiscing about the good old days. The days where playing a game for the GAME play was what mattered the most to me.

I have major respect for the kind of quality work Blizzard has done. I'm not sure if there's a dev I respect more.

Though Blizzard has stated repeatedly that they would love to have D3 out this year, I just don't see it happening. And I'm ok with that. Let it come out next year so it can have all the polish that is required. It's going to be great anyway but a few more months will just make it better.

Considering Diablo III is in closed beta and only a month ago one of the lead developers and spokesman for the Diablo III project announced they are on course for an August, 2011 OPEN beta, I would safely assume that Blizzard is pushing for a Fall release and at LATEST, early Winter.

Blizzard is well known for telling you later, releasing earlier. Last years release announcement was incapable of predicting progress over a year of development, obviously things went very smooth for the development of the game, or Blizzard wouldn't allow anyone to make official announcements of Open Beta, Period.

As much as I would LOVE to see Diablo 3 this November, I don't see it happening. Blizzard have never been known for on-time release schedules, and it wasn't long ago that SC2 was released and just about a year or so since they even announced that D3 even existed.

I'd be greatful if the game comes out sometime 2012!
