Assassin’s Creed Takes A Novel Approach

Pocket Books, a publisher who specializes in – you guessed it – pocket-sized paperbacks based on existing IPs, has announced their latest project: tackling a trilogy of novels based around Ubisoft's upcoming blockbuster, Assassin's Creed .

The first book will deal with events that take place before the start of the game, so it's basically a prequel. It should arrive some time in October. Ubisoft clearly likes the idea…hey, it'll serve as extra publicity, right?

"The Assassin's Creed books, which begin by layering elements that prequel the game, will only expand upon this adventure to an eager audience of gamers and thrill seekers," said Tony Key, VP, marketing at Ubisoft.

Pocket Books is also looking forward to the endeavor, especially with video games rapidly assaulting the mainstream. Among other popular games, Halo recently launched into the publishing world.

"With the anticipation for Assassin's Creed building every day, it's tremendously exciting to be in partnership with Ubisoft at the launch of this extraordinary franchise," said Marco Palmieri, Senior Editor at Pocket Books.

The game is scheduled to release for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC some time this fall. If the story turns out to be compelling enough, perhaps fans of the game will also be interested in checking out the books as well.
