BioWare At Comic Con With ME3 And Dragon Age II DLC

If you're in the San Diego area, or you're a hardcore fan and you intend to travel to Comic Con this year, you'll want to check out BioWare.

As they posted in their forums , the esteemed developer will attend the big Comic Con event, which runs from Thursday, July 21 through Sunday, July 24. They're bringing Mass Effect 3 with them – that's reason enough right there to attend – along with "never before seen Dragon Age II DLC." And if you're a super huge fan, you can participate in the annual BioWare Costume Contest on Friday; just wear your best "BioWare-inspired costume" and wander into the designated areas for cos-play character photo opportunities. BioWare will give away some cool stuff and you'll have the chance to meet some staff members, too. Somebody just has to dress up as a massive dragon, or something.

We'll let you know when they decide to issue official details for that new DAII DLC.

I'm guessing the playable ME3 at Comicon will be to test the multiplayer component.

(that way, if they receive negative feedback, they have plenty of time to modify it)

I have a couple of questions about this voice Kinect functionality stuff Microsoft is doing with Mass Effect 3.

1) Couldn't you do all that voice command stuff with the regular headphones?

2) If so then what the hell is the purpose of having it in the game?

3) Like seriously did they take the headphone stuff just so to make people go spend $130 on a damn Kinect??

Good f'n questions. The voice thing is clearly a gimmick, a poor gimmick at that. If I had a roommate playing this using this Kinect command feature…I would have to tell him to shut up every 5 seconds…thats annoying and watching Bioware showing off this feature made me want to punch someone…lol. But for real lazy people, I guess it works and maybe for nerds who really want to be Shepard…lol

Yah, I see no need to say out my dialogue choices if I can just choose them with my controller, as what the dialogue choice states and what Shepherd's gonna say is going be different.

It'd kill the immersion in my opinion if I chose the dialogue choice "Don't do it!" and then Shepherd says "Noooo!!!".

Put simply, the feature's a gimmick, awkward and unnecessary.

It's not just that game either the whole thing there doing with the Voice command menu stuff, like REALLY Microsoft???

Don't even get me started on how stupid that one guy looked playing Ghost Recon demo with Kinect.

I know Sony press conference was boring and all but god damn Microsoft was terrible (well unless you really really really like the Kinect that is) but if you're like me and don't care for motion gaming then none of that Kinect stuff they showed matters.

Then they're all like yeah now you can interact with the menus on live with more Kinect voice command stuff, yeah big freaking whoop.

I'm like REALLY??? How F'N hard is it to scroll through some menus using the freaking D-pad or Analog stick.

The only game they showed that I'm getting is maybe Gears and some other Multi-platforms (except for the ones with exclusive content to PS3) as I do not want my 360 to collect dust, I do not want my 360 to be a wasted purchase even though it starting to seem like is.

Where the F#*k are my hardcore exclusives Microsoft… I mean they got push Kinect and all that, but don't just kick us to the curve and leave those us who bought your system for the REAL games hanging.. Where is Shenmue 3… hell go buy the rights to that True Crime game that Activision cancelled and make that an exclusive just give us something SHEESH.

When this generation started they had many developers on board, but they don't seem to are because they want to desperately dip into Nintendo's market of casual gamers. I don't much they market Kinect they are never gonna be as successful as the wii.

Well I was planning on buying a refurbrished Xbox for Forza 4, but now I'm thinking its not even worth it for one game. If Kinect is the future, why care.

@Guyver

those are good questions about kinect and mass effect 3. i just watched the mass effect 3 kinect presentation on youtube so i could try to make an informed comment. it looks like you are just reading off the dialogue choice into a headset instead of using your controller. i don't really see why kinect would have to be used for that. you would think a headset would be able to accomplish the same thing.

later on in the presentation it demonstrated how voice commands could be used in combat. you basically tell your team mates what to do instead of using the controller. again, i don't see why that could not be done with just a headset. there were no gestures used. it was just reading off dialogue choices, and using voice commands in combat.

i will say this. it was the first kinect presentation i watched that did not make me cringe. usually, most of the kinect presentations are a bunch of wild acting out that just make me want to cringe in disgust. this presentation was not that bad even though i can see how it might be considered a gimmick.

i don't think ms cares if it's ever as successful with motion controls as the wii. they are just trying to tap into some of that market to extend the 360's lifespan, and broaden its appeal. sony is also trying to capture this part of the market as well.

like i've mentioned before, i hope microsoft's focus on kinect will cost them some hardcore gamers. there is no evidence of that yet. the 360 is more popular than ever. over half of the 360's sold are kinect bundles, there seems to be genuine interest in kinect to my surprise.

the 360 doesn't seem to need as many exclusives. it's all about gears, halo, multiplats, and getting by on the strength of live. kinect's just a bonus.

i really don't see the appeal of kinect, i feel it's really limmitted by not having buttons, but i guess others feel differently.

Unlike other people, I like Dragon Age 2. It's about time they added the add on content for DA2. I didn't think it was going to happen.

AS for Kinnect vs. the Move debate, ps3 got them beat. They both released kids and or family games, both said that the hardcore games are coming. But, it seems that only holds true with the move.

Kilzone 3 is siiiick?! with the move. Socom 4 has that option, Resistance and bioshock infinite will have that option. And when I say option, I don't mean "better with the Kinnect " either.

You can actually play the whole game using the move. Next summer, there adding an exclusive 1st person shooter mmo that has the move as an option.

You'd think microsoft would be the 1st to release a 1st person mmo shooter. I guess that would take the limelight out of releasing a halo every two to three years.

Are you kidding me, I thought xbox was home to the 1st person shooter experience? Where are the hardcore Kinnect only games? The ones they showed at e3 won't be released this year. If it was, they would have said so.

I'm not referring to the better with the kinnect games either. Sony has some upcoming move games that aren't 1st person shooters that are out now or is upcoming that aren't all labeled family friendly games.

I heard that xbox may release a new system for 2013, really? really? The kinnect is not even a year old. How much do you want to bet (not really) the kinnect will have motion controls for the system. What was all that "you are the controller campaign"?

Why not come out with the kinnect with ALL of the bells and whistles and Motion controls with the release of a whole new system, not just a redesigned console?

Do you know how sick that would be? Speaking of sick, team wii u know they have to bring it HARD come next e3.

I'm sooo curious at what games they will have at launch. So, the wii had 1st party exclusives like Zelda, Mario, anything with the name mario in it (like mario kart, golf, tennis, etc.), metroid, donkey kong, and dragon quest. The other 3rd party exclusives and multiplatform games are reasons to buy the wiiu with better graphics?

When Nintendo talks about hardcore games? There referring to the 1st party games, not any m rated games like the other consoles. Now that the 3rd party who once abandoned them on the wii wants to jump on board the wii u train, I'm suppose to do the pop and lock now?

They advertising the upcoming wiiu? Really? There being more vague now than they were at e3. That system probably won't release until the late 3rd or early 4th quarter of next year.

There saying it's 50% more powerful than the 360 or ps3. Had this system been released on the 360 or ps3 launch, and if it would have been sold at below the cost to make like 600 to 900 dollars per unit to build but they charged 400 to 600 dollars per system, then I might be impressed. Now, we'll see.
