Uncharted 3 And Batman Lead Game Critics E3 Awards

There were a ton of great games on display at E3, and the Game Critics Awards nominations for the event have been released .

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception and Bioshock Infinite led the charge with four nominations each, while many other titles (including Batman: Arkham City , The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , Battlefield 3 , and Tomb Raider ) picked up three apiece. As for publishers, EA and Sony each got 14 total nominations, Microsoft netted 11, Ubisoft had 7, and Nintendo and Warner Bros. each landed 6. If you're wondering, the Game Critics Awards Best of E3 2011 nominations are determined by a group of judges from 35 different publications.

Uncharted 3 was nominated for Best of Show, Best Console Game, Best Action/Adventure Game, and Best Online Multiplayer Game. For the record, here are the nominations for Best of Show:

There may not have been a lot of huge surprises at E3, but the software lineup for this year is pretty damn impressive. Sure, we already knew about all of them before E3 but in this day and age, it's almost impossible to keep big projects secret for the express purpose of revealing them at E3.

Good choices although I'm quite surprised to see Tomb Raider getting nominated for Game of Show. If I'm not mistaken, all that was shown was a pre-rendered trailer and no gameplay. But then again, I did not read everything that happened in E3 so I may have missed that part. To give credit where it is due, the TR trailer is amazing, but what matters to me is how good it is in actual gameplay.

I stand corrected. A search on YouTube showed that there was gameplay for TR in E3. Guess it just never really hit my radar. It looks promising but my personal choices for Game of Show are Batman: Arkham City and Uncharted 3. Bioshock Infinite would be awesome but FPS games make me feel sick. I would still love to try it though.

Tomb Raider was shown at the MS conference so maybe that's why.

Yeah, the video I saw was the one in the microsoft conference. And that is the reason why I missed it. It made me wonder though what makes third party developers decide as to which conference to show a multiplatform game. It case of Tomb Raider, they may have opted to go with MS because Uncharted 3. Any thoughts?

Yeah, MS pays them because their own lineup is so damn slim.

I did notice that, Excelsior, although a bit later. Found out too late that I couldn't edit my original post anymore. LOL

I spend too much money already, I know it's going to be a quality title but superheros aren't big on my list. Unless you count Cole MacGrath.

If I had to choose, I'd leave out Bioshock… but I get what you're saying… toooo many good games, what is a gamer to do?

The nominaters definetly got in right. Those are the games that impressed me the most, but AC: Revelations also deserved a great deal of attention.

P.S. I just bought a PlayStation Move bundle on Amazon!! I'm excited and can't wait to try it out. 🙂

I'm also looking forward to the conclusion of Ezio's story. I haven't played Brotherhood yet (still looking for an R1 copy) but I immensely enjoyed AC2.

As for the Move, I have it too. It may not be as fun when playing solo, but it sure is great with friends. All of my siblings play console games but not all of them are as "core" as most of us here. They thought all the games are awesome, but the only time they want to steal the controller away from me was when they saw me playing Sports Champions. It's a blast. And now I still await for Sorcery, which was disappointingly absent in this year's E3. And I almost forget, make sure to play Heavy Rain with the Move. I found it a lot better with that.

I don't understand how there can be absolutely nothing on Sorcery. It's probably scrapped.

I sure hope that's not the case, World. When Sony announced the Move, Sorcery was among the games that actually got a lot of buzz. Blimey, people could now be their real-life Harry Potters! LOL

@ZettaiSeigi I'll definetly play Heavy Rain again with the Move. I promise you that. After playing through it four times and snagging the platinum it still remains as one of my favorite games of all time and one I'm far from being bored with.

Also, the bundle I bought comes with Sports Champions so I know I'll have fun with that. What else would you recommend I get as far as PS Move "only" titles goes?

Sorcery looks cool to me and didn't Sony say something like there was going to be a big change to Sorcery the next time they show it or was that for a different game?

I hear ya, Danny! Heavy Rain is also one of my favourite games this console generation. I admittedly haven't gotten the Platinum for it yet, as I cannot bring Ethan to do the unthinkable in order to get one of the endings. LOL I'll get around that in due time. And yeah, no more pressing the R2 button to walk/run!

I don't have a lot of Move games yet. Like you, Sports Champions was bundled with my PS3. I'd tell you that my siblings and I played it about two days ago and my body hurts as if I went to the gym. Goes to show I need more exercise! Anyway, I'm sure you'll find it lots of fun. If you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you can download Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves from the PSN. I haven't played it yet, so I can't say if it's good or not.

Sony sure hasn't released a lot of top-tier games yet with the Move, but there are also those games that you might want to try to play with the Move. Killzone 3 and MAG being some of them. I haven't fully invested yet in Move games, but oddly enough, the one I've been considering to get is Singstar Dance. That coming from a guy who only sings in the shower and never dance. LOL

Get Tumble from psn, that game has a slick art style and is definitely challenging. Sackboy's prehistoric moves is decent, i just don't have anyone who wants to be the motion controller guy.

@kevinater321… agreed! Tumble is a hoot. Anyone that has a Move should check the game out for sure.

those are some pretty effin sweet nominees. Out of all of them though, im the least sold on bioshock infinate. never actually played them, but infinate looks very very eccentric and its kind of turned me off of it. Skyrim will probably be the salvation RPG fans will need, but i dont get into that stuff so i likely wont buy it.

I think people are probably refreshed by the idea of a real RPG like Elder Scrolls. People are starting to get sick of pseudo-RPG's. /flamebait/
