While we're all hoping for a new Red Dead announcement, we also need Grand Theft Auto V . Badly.
So when will they spill the beans on that one? Well, according to sources close to Take-Two , GTAV will "likely" launch next year, and development is "well under way." We have no extra details but they do say some finishing touches – i.e., mini-games – are currently being applied. So might we expect an early 2012 release? Current evidence says fans should expect a setting similar to Los Angeles and a bunch of colorful California characters. This fan still recommends that GTA go international somehow but hey, I'm fairly convinced the developers know what they're doing. Just give us GTAV and everything will be right with the world.
And right about the time you fully unveil the fifth GTA, you can go ahead and announce "Red Dead…um…Betrayal?" How's that sound?
I'm all in. Bring on GTA IV, GTA pretty much got me into gaming and its still my favorite series or whatever.
GTAIV is available at your local retailer 😉
where are you living ? 2007 ?
GTA V of course and Canadianguy…go kill yourself…lol
ok…
really hope its the sequel to san andreas, i would love to go back to that setting and have a huge map at my disposal as well as have everything that makes GTA, GTA.
the comedy, the mass amounts of things to do etc etc. of and a crazy good online.
really hope they change up the aiming (But i doubt they will) the lock on is way too easy.
There needs to be some semblance of an actual hand to hand fighting mechanic in there too.
I don't think of GTA as a shooter anyways so I think that aiming is alright. Get get done with the shooting and onto the next chapter.
No no, Red Dead needs an "R" name so it's got to be Red Dead Revenge.
I think I'm burnt out on GTA unless details emerge that are completely insane changes to the tired series that must be played straight away.
GTA would be day 1 if it were in Tokyo.
I think Retribution sounds better than Revenge.
Taken by Resistance: Retribution, how about Red Dead Revelations?
Red Dead Retirement? Red Dead Rigormotis?

How about Red Dead Deception?? =D Play off the Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception awesomness!! XD jk
I was thinking Revelations, but then AC stole my thunder. RDReclamation.
Red Dead Revolution? Set during the the civil war between the North and South?
Red Dead Rubbadubbadingdong. That's what I'm putting my money on.
Read Dead Restricted Restroom Access?
can't wait bring that $hit!. i have a hunch there might be a GTA3 HD remake out on october 21 this year i know they probably would have announced it by now but i just can't see them letting the 10th anniversary go by & not do anything. it is 1 of the most important games of all time after all. c'mon R* don't let us down!

That name actually sounds good, if the new RDR's a prequel, showing more insight into John as a brash, young youth before he became more composed and convicted as an adult man (with a family, no less, and through the events of him, his relationship and how it developed [in detail, of course =D] with Abigail, and the rest of the gang).
Or, simply for coolness's sake, Red Dead Retribution.

I think it will be like GTA, different main character in each game.
Yup, I won't rule out that possibility now either =D
That's the trend that already seems to being set. Redemption wasn't the first in the series. Revolver was.
In the context of the story, RDRdemption is loosely after RDRevolver no?
Unless it was implied that there was a familial connection between Marston and the protagonist(s) in RDRevolver, than I am wrong and I seemed to have missed it.
I don't think that there was any connection, but I am often wrong.
Hmm, are these the same sources that said something about a FF remake. :p
Anyways, this news has gotten GTA lovers cranking one out. I've never been into GTA, so no cranking for me.
GTAIV was a really good game. However, now that I've played RDR and half of LA Noire, I can see that they've got a game engine that is quite flexible and a LOT can be added to it. There are quite a few obviously talented people working there and I can hardly wait to see what they put out for GTAV. It's going to be solid, that's for sure.
If Gta 5 is gonna release early next year then we would of seen something @ E3 just gone!
I'm calling fiddlesticks on this supposed insider scoop/tidbit of info.
R*north has got its hands full with Agent, theirs also max payne 3 being developed in canada.I think gta V will be next gen,one roman numeral titled entry per generation methinks.

nah there's too much money involved, there will be at least 1 more this gen.
I agree with World, but it won't be a numbered entry. Grand Theft Auto: City of Angels.
I can't wait I really like the GTA games.
I know it will more than likely be an overall better game than the new Saints Row, but Damn Saints Row The Third looks like non-stop fun.
Have you guys seen the stage demo with the character beating people with Dildo Bats and calling in Artillery strikes.

Saints Row 3 is a d1p for sure. It even qualify for a preorder – the safest bet this year. It just can't go wrong after what we've seen so far.
But I'm a bit tired of the comparisons with GTA everywhere, placing SR in the shadow of the giant.
It's about time they get acknowledged for being a IP of their own. Only saints Row is Saints Row!
Yeah I agree.
@BeamBoom
I wouldn't call Saints Row an IP, it was way too similar to GTA. However, they did take SR1 and SR2 into different directions. R* went with the more serious GTA4, while SR made a statement that they would go all out with the crazy, wacky, funny, all about fun parts of the game that GTA4 abandoned. So while SR has differentiated itself, it's not an IP.
Not an IP? WTF?
So what's the conceptual differences between Killzone, Call Of Duty, Battlefield, Crysis, Far Cry and Resistance, just to pick some random shooters from the top of my head. Are they not individual IPs either? Are all the current war themed fps just COD clones? All sci-fi/horror fps are just DOOM clones?
Have you even played Saints Row? The atmosphere, story and style (or lack thereof) of SR makes it a very different game than GTA, and *especially* GTAIV. You can't say that because it's fun, open world and the story goes on in modern day city it's not an IP of it's own cause it is, both from a legal and practical perspective.

Yeah again I have to agree with you BeamBoom.
@Jed I honestly have not the slightest clue on what you mean when you say Saints isn't an IP, that makes no sense whatsoever.

I'd be happy with a May release like L.A. Noire and Red Dead Redemption. That would be three amazing games three years in a row for Rockstar
I'm considering a Saints Row II purchase for the old school goofy fun GTA used to provide. Question: Since you can fully customize your character, is he or she then a silent person in the game a la GTA3?
No, there are about six voices you can choose from as well. I played it on my computer, which gave up any form of framerate during the first mission so I don't know for sure, but I just think the whole dialog is recorded six times.
Yes (s)he's got different voices to choose from, also the rest of the look is fully customizable, like RPG games¸ You really got control of the details.
You can even change everything about the looks of your character during the game (in the middle of the story) too, there's no limits, just fun. 🙂

Thanks guys, sounds pretty cool 🙂
Yes, yes. I love GTA and I love Red Dead, but what the hell is going on with Agent? and now there's rumor it might be multi? I'm not happy about this.
That they're working on it is pretty obvious, and I'm interested in what kind of mini-games will be in it, given then complete lack of anything in GTA IV, though the episodes went a ways towards fixing that. Whatever it is, I'll be interested. GTA is simply too huge to overlook. And another RDR woulf be very much appreciated also. I'm kind of wondering about the next Midnight Club though. And Agent and Max Payne.
And what's the bet that Anon drops in with a comment about developers announcing more games than they put out?
Peace.
Please let it be a new San Andreas, and make it as huge as it was in the last generation: 3x Liberty City. I don't care if multiple DVD's will be needed for the 360, just make them change discs when they go to a different area.
I will go insane if they re-introduce airplanes.
Nooo we need the planes too! Oh yes that was lovely, flying from one city to the next.
We need GTA:SA, that's what we need, really. 😀
Positively insane I meant, like from happiness.
Gotcha!
i hope r* is using a different engine for the ps3 than what they used on rdr and gta 4, no more nasty resolution cuts, please r*. contact the la noire team if you need tech help on the ps3.
of course its well underway, its there most popular series!
in other breaking news Ferrari have a new car in development, and apple are developing a new phone!
i mean come on, how is this news?
talk about stating the obvious!
to be frank though i dont want a new GTA.
i just know its going to be the same as GTAIV and i cant take another disappointment like that!
i wish games could go back to being about fun, and not being about uber realism!
the whole point of playing games is to escape reality, do things you never could in real life!
soon ill have the cops knocking on my door because i went through a red light in saints row 3!

Damnit! You took the realism route!
I'm burnt out on GTA I played through 4, but the gameplay, as in the free roaming aspect, is the only thing intriguing about them anymore.
A new Red Dead I certainly could use though. I love the western theme and I would assume all the kinks from the first would be worked out. Can't wait to see what they come up for the next installment!
I think the Red Dead series should go through time and follow the Marston family through their lives of crime and see them move from state to state to eventually end up in New York to give R* a chance to redeem themselves in terms of the map. Or, maybe even a vote from the gamers as to where it may be set? As for GTA:V that needs to drop ASAP. I'm itching for it.. ITCHING.. Or is that just Scabies?
