I wish I could come up with a better descriptive term than "smoother," but that seems to be the most accurate.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception looks incredible from a visual standpoint, as one might expect. But as many have noticed, there has been a technical alteration to the character design and presentation. For example, here's a picture courtesy of GamingBolt .
It's Chloe as she looked in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and as she appeared in the E3 trailer for Uncharted 3 . There's also a comparison shot of Elena and we've already seen plenty of Drake in past months. In our eyes, it seems plain: they've been "smoothed" over. The thing that's bugging me is this- I really can't decide if it's "better."
I mean, strictly from a technical standpoint, I think it's plain. They've taken another step by cutting back on that glossy, almost plastic-y sheen we've seen in the past. At the same time, it almost seems as if a touch of the rich color and definition from Uncharted 2 went away with that glossiness. It's certainly more realistic and more accomplished ; I'm just not sure I like it more. Sorta torn right now.
You also get slightly different facial animations with this sleeker style, and in this respect, I haven't seen enough to make any decisions one way or the other. I'm just wondering what the fans have to say about this.
