If you're a veteran stealth fan, you know all about the venerated Hitman series.

And you're likely excited about the freshly announced Hitman: Absolution , the new project at IO Interactive. Agent 47 is back and this time, the people he trusted have betrayed him, and he must work through a complex conspiracy to clear his name.

The debut trailer and more information can be found at the PlayStation Blog and first and foremost, we're lovin' the freedom feature. As IO Community Manager Nick Price says, "you don't just have one finish line at the end of the race – you have lots." Then he says the team is "taking everything to the next level," which could mean just about anything…but it still sounds encouraging. This franchise deserves a fantastic iteration; Agent 47 is also a damn cool character.

But just so we're clear, IO- this is still a stealth game, right? Not an action game with stealth options? The twitch-gaming crowd hasn't affected you guys, too, I hope…

So I guess this all means that the canon ending to Hitman 4 is that you wake up… I'm not see how it all runs into the beginning of this trailer though… I just see a cool yes, exciting yes trailer but it's all confusing.

I am a bit worried that through a new iteration, Hitman will be updated into obscurity. I would have rather like a new game by the guys, with a new vision but I'll withhold judgement as always.

Remember how 47 is a clone? I have a feeling they will be back and will be like locust just destroying everything in front of them. Sad day.

But then again it could be true to it's roots. Just gonna have to watch this VERY VERY closely.

That is the problem nowdays Ben, Some developers are trying to "innovate" or "evolve", but they are not doing it right, they are copying trends or other games rather than evolve or try something else. I'm not saying this is wrong, but then the sells figures (almost always)tell the truth.

One example was the latest Lara Croft game. SquareEnix rapidly put their touch in the game. It was a high risk to take, and it showed well, but they changed the spirit of Lara by introducing character stats and all that stuff, and it could've be a disaster.

If the studio behind this game tries to "evolve" in a certain way (destroying the Hitman spirit), they could disappoint big time.

I hate playing action games with stealth options, because the stealth doesn't work as intended and I just end up 'going loud'. Take Turok for example…

You can do stealth very well in the Hitman games, you just have to be very good to pull it off.

IO should have been working on this ages ago, along with some HD collections instead of spoon feeding us the turd-in-a-microwave that was the Kane & Lynch series. What a waste of dev time that was.

I still can't believe that shit got a sequel when the first one failed so hard. You can't polish a turd lads & even if you can it will still smell off.

I have high hopes for the chrome domed assassin, don't disappoint like Sam Fisher did in Splinter Cell Conviction.

Definitely impressed, and IO stated they would create this one to be more accessible. Which isn't terrible but they don't have a choice considering how bad both Kane and Lynch games have flopped. Even though I am enjoying Dog Days.

My point is, they need to be able to turn of certain features that would take away from the true Hitman experience for the true fans.
