Another good piece of collection and tech news:
Sony has revealed two new HD collections: the first is God of War: Origins , which features the last two hndheld GoW titles overhauled in brilliant high definition, and the second is the ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection …and that's self-explanatory. Both collections will be available this September, which is great news and sort of makes us hope for The Last Guardian sooner rather than later. Now Tretton is moving on to announcing a new monitor that will allow for two gamers to play the same game at the same time, and without split-screen. It'll actually feature a new technology that will let each player see their own full-screen image via angle viewing. Right now, it seems to be called the "PlayStation 3D Monitor" and it sounds pretty damn appealing.
Stay tuned as Sony's conference rolls along.
Related Game(s): Resistance 3
Sweet, glad the ICO collection finally got dated! Looking forward to it.
GoW collection looks tempting too.
Played ICO and loved it. Missed out on SOC (why I don't know) can't wait for this collection
Yeah, it's good they keep pushing these collections. The gamers who didn't play these games now can, while the publishers make a quick buck but now please show us the real ps3 games that will make us drool!
Sorry,I have no drool left thanks to your avatar.I am glad I don't have to wait long to play the GOW games I don't own,was thinking I would have to wait until PS4 to play them.
The two psp GOW games on ps3?! Dream come true! Now THIS collection I will get.
Nothing like playing multiplayer games with a real person on your side. Will have took into this 3D splitscreen monitor. If it doesn't require those glasses of course…
That TV sounds really legit. What is the price on it?
499 for the tv, 3d glasses, 6ft hdmi cable, and… AND Resistance 3… not too shabby.
And gotta love that two player feature. Instead of split screen the glasses will display two different full screens. Super cool.
Correct gumbi. I get the impression that each player will get their own full screen rendered, no sweet-spot or special angle required, but glasses yes.
I doubt that the split screen will be viewable in 3D though, as that would require rendering the same image four times. But yeah, I'd say that the image is rendered as a usual 3D image, then sent to the glasses differently to allow each person to get the full, unique image.
Yes, I got the impression that the local two-player full screen gaming would be in 2D.
PS Blog has some nice pics that show how the local two player gaming will work.

Also, they do mention in that post that the display has a full 1080p panel.
That is a deal I may have to find a way to do. I loved what Sony did with that PlayStation 3D monitor.
I was totally under the impression that you had 3D mode or you could have two players viewing separate images in 2D.
Either way…I want!!
Super cool indeed.
Wasn't expecting the ICO collection to release this year, and that monitor sounds sweet. As yet undecided on GoW Origins, have to find out what is included that makes it appealing to someone who's already played both games several times over on the PSP.
I'd better start saving for that screen… and finding someone willing to sit down and play with me (not that I'm intolerable… just don't know too many people I actually want to sit down and play with…)! rofl
This is great news. I thought the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus collection was pushed into next year. I'm glad we don't have to wait that long. I'm going to have work some overtime if Sony keeps this pace up.
😀 Day one purchases for me (if I can help it, and I'll do everything I can to make it happen.) The monitor sounds pretty cool too. Will there have to be specific games that support the monitor, or is it something that could be configured for any split-screen game (perhaps with a patch, if nothing else?)
I want that screen…
Me too.
Sony's come up with a great new idea for that new TV.
But I'd like to see that new tech also incorporated ASAP into all their bigger sized TV models, 30's 40' & 50's, etc, too.
That screen shall be mine.
Errrah… 24"??? Strike that. That screen shall never be considered.
24"?! Wtf?
If that dual screen thing works, that would be awesomeasaurus on a LEVEL
Interesting tv. It's clearly meant to offer 3d to more people.
That is incredible and very sensible tech right there!! And the way Jack Tretton pitched it to the audience, totally nailed it!!!
Small enough to fit in a dorm or apartment room. Cheapest 3D TV out there. Playstation branded. Has 3D for one player, two completely separate images for two players on the one whole screen!!! Seriously?!?!?!
That Playstation TV is gona take off!!!
No mention on price of glasses yet, but I'm hoping for under $30. That would be far more affordable for people, like me, who haven't adopted 3D yet.
Is it just me, or has Sony started tackling price now? How on Earth do they make money on these things?!?!?
Dancemachine55,
He did say the price for buying the glasses separately will be…$69.99.
Not only is that a super-cheap price, they'll also be compatible with most other brands of 3DTV's too.
screens so cool, really nifty features!
but come on 24 inches?
my freaking PC monitors bigger then that!
really looking forward to the GOW origins collection!
the 2 best GOW games coming to the ps3!
hopefully they actually touch up the graphics for the ps3 though, not like the titles for ps2 looked almost exactly the same as playing them off a 60GB ps3!
pathetic!
if your going to remake something, at least update the visuals for todays standards!
If the 24" model is a success I can see Sony adding a 32" model next year.
This monitor is a great idea, but I'm going to wait until they can do this in a 60"+ autostereoscopic screen. It shouldn't be long at all for it to happen hopefully, because there are 2160p HDTVs pretty much ready to go retail, most likely when consumers start demanding it. So once they tackle the challenge of no glasses on larger screens, an autostereoscopic 3D TV could be made that would now have a resolution of 1080p per screen angle if used in the same manner as the 24" 3D monitor Sony just announced.
