I remember pre-ordering Final Fantasy VIII 14 months before it was scheduled to release. And in those days, you actually needed your receipt, which I faithfully kept.

But that was only a little over a year. Who's nuts enough to keep a receipt for a decade or more? Just to frame to prove to everyone how long you've been on the DNF hype train? Well, it's time to break that glass and free your receipt from its confines; take it down to GameStop and they will honor that pre-order. As noted at GamePro :

"With a long-anticipated release like Duke Nukem Forever, we encourage customers who pre-ordered more than a year ago to verify their reservation with their local store prior to launch. Provided the customer has a receipt, we will honor even those pre-orders taken long ago. At this time, we expect that all pre-order customers will receive Duke's Big Package at time of purchase, regardless of when the reservation was made."

Oh man, I would love to see someone saunter in with a pre-order receipt from 1998 or something. I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen, either. Hell, I remember selling quite a few DNF pre-orders back when I was still working at EB in the late '90s; there was a time when this game was hugely anticipated, ya know.

Who else is expecting a bunch of fake receipts being listed on eBay?

Imagine someone has a receipt from the 90's that's in mint condition. That guy would be a true fan.

Good luck to thous that preordered that long ago.

Most inks used for receipts and such are designed to fade quickly, usually in about 3 months unless kept in a dark, dry, climate controlled environment.

My Ps3 receipt can't even be read now, it was kept in a fire-proof, air tight safe with other valuable papers of mine.

dunno why everyones constantly ripping gamestop/EB for being so expensive, ive found quite often there cheaper.
especially on trade in deals and matching prices.
everytime i go to JB or game or whoever 99% of the time they refuse to match it, but EB its quite the opposite.
like yesterday i went to JB and said bigW have a 250GB xbox 360 for 390 can you match it, both target,Kmart,JB,Game, myer,DJs,dick smith, all said no.
went to EB sure!
not only will we match it, will slash 40 bucks off and give you gears 2 and halo reach for free!
not bad not bad at all!

not to mention game have halo reach brand new for 100 bucks, EB are selling it for 40!
RDR game want 100 EB want 40!
ive found EB to be the cheapest on allot of occasions.

Clamedeus,

Funcoland was a completely different company, until GameStop bought them.

Gamestop is like M$, neither one of them likes any competition.

@Biker

Ah, thanks for the info, I always thought it was the same company but changed the name after all that happened.

But I guess not. xD

Thanks for clearing that up.

I was anticipating the game a lot but I didn't put in the preorder. How much did you have to put down back then?

Well in any case I can't wait to mash it up with Duke again. It's gonna be a riot, just like the old days. This CoD stuff these days with these kids… I dunno bout all that. Duke I get, he's simple and badass.

When I pre-order a game, I always have to tell for which console I'm planning to buy the game. Is this also the case in the USA? And if so, are all the old pre-orders for the PC only?

WorldEndsWithMe
WorldEndsWithMe

Well if you don't tell them which system you want it for then how will they know?

I suppose the old preorders would be for PC, but if you walk in with a preorder that old they will probably let you specify which system you want it for now.

Zorigo
Zorigo

It'd be stupiid not too, i mean if your preordered it on say the PS2 it would be pretty stupid for them to expect you to somehow magically on the PS2 still. or instantly assume you want the PS3 version.

Ah it's great to be witnessing history being made in Video Game land. DNF releasing has to be one of the biggest things this industry has seen.

I mean, it's actually HERE! A game straight out of the golden age in a modern coating. Can't get better than that…and i'll be playing it in 3 days!

I just find it unfortunate that a lot of players today don't understand what this is about. I am hoping that word will spread about how fun the game is to teach the new generation what gaming is all about.

Looking at stats, DNF STILL, after 12 years, appears to be one of the most anticipated games of all time.

GET ON THE BOAT, PEOPLE!
