Analyst: GTAV Won’t Be Ready Until After April 2012

We all know the fifth Grand Theft Auto will arrive at some point. But when?

The fans are hoping to see an official announcement at E3 next month, but according to Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia, we're not likely to see GTAV before April 2012 . Bhatia expects the highly anticipated title to release between April 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013, which is – admittedly – a vague release window. Even so, if it's accurate, it means we've got a long time to wait before GTAV is ready to go. The good news is that Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive have released two blockbuster titles since GTAIV; the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire . There's no doubt that expectations will be crazy high for GTAV.

We still want an overseas setting – London, Tokyo, Paris, etc. – but we can live with a Los Angeles setting, as has been rumored.

it's been sooo long since i left a comment here lol! but, a tokyo setting would be nice i wonder what it would be like if they took all the major cities and places them into 1 uniquely large sandbox world and then allowed the players to not only roam freely but simply choose a territory, and play through a story mode in that area..

honestly.. i doubt that's possible but it'd probably be one very long ass game..

Even R* North doesn't have the time / budget to create that game.

I like the ambition, though.

It would only be able to fit on a blu ray for sure.

Sunshine, trees, mountains, bicycles, a real camera, planes, trains, tanks, small town outskirts, beaches, jetskis, hovercrafts, flamethrowers, grenade launchers…. the list goes on!!!

If Rockstar can pull all their most fun and aesthetically beautiful strong points from their previous GTA's and place them into a single hi-def GTA for the PS3, that would just be the greatest game ever.

San Andreas on PS3!! Vice City as the 4th city next to Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas!!

Play as a struggling actor trying to make it big by doing favours for corrupt film-makers and politicians!! Stunts, deliveries, gun fights, explosions, helicopter chases, drug smuggling, ambulance and lawyer chaser, it works!!! My dream GTA… if only… 🙂

i'm sorry. who is he ? & why do we care what he says ?. when R* says it'll come out then we'll know. speculating is pointless. oh & HELL NO! LA setting lets go somewhere new.

where ever the setting, and if GTA V is going to be a multi plat game, i hope it'll be built on the ps3 than ported.

I can wait however long it takes, these games are stale. I'm loving everything about L.A. Noire and I'm way more interested in Agent.

this might seem weird but honestly i'd probably rather see a GTA 3/vc/sa HD remake before GTA V. anyone else with me on that ?

I can surely wait. I'll usually play and get some sort of enjoyment out of most any kind of game, but I just hate GTA. I played Vice city which was arguably considered GTA at its best, and I just feel like an epic D bag when I play it. Its just to brutal for me IMO. I'll play the hell outta games that are extremely bloody but then again, most of those have a particular fantasy element. Its just GTA's realism that gets to me for some reason

I would love to see a spanking new HD Vice City version with lashings of 80's music like Whitesnake, Phil Collins, A-Ha and Duran Duran plus all the cheesy Miami Vice clothes…

Plus a hot tub time machine thrown in for good measure…

GTA IV was too grey… Give me a gallon of gameplay over a tumbler of realism anyday…

did you play gay tony ?. it had all the crazyness of san andreas. skydiving! tons of explosions all that. & in regards to what you said about IV being to grey. thats what they wanted to do. tell the story of a immigrant struggling to make it. but yea i guess they should just tell the same old story over & over again. heaven forbid they try something different…

As much as I love having games with a *different* setting than somewhere in the USA, when it comes to GTA I'd actually like it to stay in the US.
Reason is that much of what GTA is all about is making fun of the people and cultures in the US, and they do that well.
I shall not underestimate R*, but I am not convinced that they will be able to do the same with the japanese or british culture. I am worried it will be too shallow and cliche. "Never change a winning team".

So keep GTA American! Just please please with sugar on top, let it be more bright and fun like GTA:SA (or even Red Dead for that matter) and less dark and grey like GTAIV.

ill eat my hat if GTAV is announced by E3 next year, let alone out!
R* have so many games there working on now, MP3, agent, apparently RDR2, bully 2, and what ever happened to midnight club?
theres no way will be seeing a new GTA anytime soon, and if its anything like GTAIV then thats a good thing!
once i can probably handle, but 2 GTAs sucking?
nope, dont think i could handle that.
hell, even LA Noire is more of a GTA game then GTAIV is!
at least in that you can drive like a freaking maniac without flying out the window, or getting the cops trying to kill you!

GTAV won't be ready until 2013.
That's the fact.

I was going to post something to that effect, but wanted to read through the thread to make sure no one else made that point.

In other words, I agree with you!

Its going to be a battle of the analysts. Pachter predicts it will come this January. Hmmm… I have no idea when the hell its coming.

I predict this game will release on May 16 2012. In 2010 on May 18 RRD was released. On May 17 2011 la noire was released. So I think they'll follow the same release schedule.

I know that this topic is about GTA, but I would like to see R* make a new game that isn't GTA, as they have been doing with recent titles. I would like it to be set in New York, but a re-crated NY instead of the 'represented' NY of IV. This way they could redeem themselves in making that map by recreating it true to the setting as they have done in LA Noire. I think an *accurate* New York City would be an amazing place to cause havoc, as I do not think any other game has truly done justice to the city. Especially R* with theire 'lousy' attempt. I'm not taking a dig at R*, infact I am a huge fan of theirs and have been for many, many years. Their recent work is great and I can't wait to see what they achieve with the next GTA installment. As for the E3 conference, I think that it's a flip of a coin chance as to whether or not they will announce it then. Basically, I think it's just 50/50. If I had to say, I would bet on it being a no-show.
