Hey look, the first game that found the holiday season far too intimidating.

Last year, we watched as a great many promising titles refused to combat the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops , Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Gran Turismo 5 and ran off into 2011. Now, after several delays, Ubisoft has confirmed that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier won't arrive until the end of the first quarter next year. In a post-earnings conference call, CEO Yves Guillemot said;

"It will be released in fiscal Q4 as we want first to have the best quality possible, as well as to avoid the very crowded Christmas landscape in the shooter genre."

Yeah, well, there are quite a few shooters scheduled for the third fiscal quarter, now aren't there? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 are only two, but those are enough to scare just about any producer of a military shooter. Even so, let's not forget that Ghost Recon is indeed a little different from other shooters; that should count for something.

This game keeps getting pushed back. I bet Ubi is still having technical issues. I started Assassin's Creed 2 today and my eyes are still bleeding from the pop-in, screen tearing, and Prototype-esque graphics.

I'm not really surprised by their fear, but even though I'm not a big military shooter fan I've always thought ghost recon was one of Ubisofts better game series.

Hoping they do this one right, because it does show some promise.

I'm interested in this game, I'm a military kind of guy, along with Action Adventure games as well as RPG's, I don't prefer one over the other I like all of them.

But sad to hear it's being pushed back.

Nah, they just know that Revelations will go gangbusters, so they want this one to fill the lull that'll come early next year. That being said, I've tried a couple of the Ghost Recon games but didn't like them. I'd like to, because they seem good, I just don't.
Peace.

Well too bad, I will have so many AAA titles to play in the beginning of 2012 This game wont even get a passing glance. Uncharted 3, Battlfield 3, and MW3! Trilogies abound!

OH FOR F*CKS SAKE!
this brings it of to what, the 50th delay!?
come on ubisoft, we want our god dam ghost recon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and whats with rainbow six?
one of the best modern shooters out there and we have not seen a iteration since 2007!
biggest injustice!
crap like COD gets released yearly, but gold like rainbow six and ghost recon we have to wait 4+ years for!

not exactly.
you dont have to spend 4+ years making a game for it to be good!
hell look at infamous 2, my jaws still on the flaw from last saturday and they only spent 2 years on that!
suckerpunch are a very small studio too, the guys who do the tom clancy games are easily double if not triple suckers size!
suckerpunch only had 70 staff at the peak of infamous 2s development.

2 years is better than 1 year, and although there's a shorter gap between those two numbers, it still carries the meaning of what Lawless was saying.

Gives Ubi time to change the name.

"Future Soldier"? You're really gonna go with "Future Soldier"?

p.s. For once, I agree with _________________. They rush RSV2 out the door in less than a year (on PS3) and then nothing?

If there concerned about going against the heavy weights why don't they just release the game in the summer? It seems now developers are realizing that gamers play games in the summer too. Infamous 2 anybody?

At least the developers know Ghost Recon doesn't stand a chance. And it's easy to see why.

I want this game. BF3 and Uncharted 3 are both jumping on my self in Nov. This news is good for plenty of reason; First off I probably would of never purchased it because of other games coming out around and shortly before it's release and A much better game will be released now with such a delay.
We will be expecting a better game now, expectations are rising. This will be purchased and is looking like a great game.

Delays are always good for two reasons; the first is we will get an improved game and second is it allows us to play recent games that will be launched around it's original release date… But, there's also a good chance you will lose a good bunch of consumers because of the wait and other games jumping higher on the "Most have" or "most play" lists.

I hope that the reasons for the delay will be fixed and that this will be the last delay.
