Crystal Dynamics is pulling out all the stops for their Tomb Raider reboot.

More details continue to arrive, and the latest will pique your interest: taken from the Spanish publication Hobby Consolas and cited at Segment Next , the following gameplay information for Lara's new adventure has been discovered: firstly, the team took inspiration from the movie "Batman Begins," and they say Lara "will undergo the same transformation as Bruce Wayne did as a protector of Gotham City."

Secondly, there will be three types of missions: Survive, Rescue, and Escape. Thirdly, we'll have to return to base camp in order to learn new skills or grab new tools. Fourthly, the puzzles have been inspired by Half-Life 2 , as the player will have to deal with the physics of water, currents, gravity and weight of objects. The cool part is that every puzzle in Tomb Raider can be solved in a variety of different ways, and we'll get the help of Lara's "survival instinct," which highlights objects she may find useful for the puzzle-solving.

Lastly, there's mention of an Innovative Camera Frame, which will allow us to determine Lara's mood based on her "facial expressions, fear and blurring effects." …so, does that mean she could be running around with a big ol' silly smile plastered across her face? No, probably not. But we like this mechanic's potential.

Sounds good.
Tomb raider was all about being alone, solving puzzels, exploring & platforming with a good bit of combat.

I am trying to get into this game, but with Uncharted 3 coming out later this year, I find myself not caring much.

I will probably get this forsure. I've really liked tomb raider games BUT they need to step up the controls and camera. Then I think we got a winner.

surprisingly sounds good, but i keep thinking "how are they going to screw it up!" but if they were to make a game which closely related to half-life and batman begins only grounded in the Lara universe, i would be impressed, impressed and pleased!

I was actually hoping for a bigger focus on combat action.

I miss the way she used to jump in the old games. So cubic, straight and extremely high. Always made me laugh. (unless of course, running away from those dinosaurs)

Sounds promising to me, but it sounds like the map setup they have going on where you go to base camp to learn new skills, sounds like they copied it from Demon's Souls.

But… I hated Batman Begins…

WHAT!?
how can you hate batman begins?
one of the best, if not the best Bman game ever released!
i wish WB would do a HD remake of that game, was such a classic!
one of the very few times a movie game turns out good, and the very first time a movie game turned out better then any other game in that series!
arkham asylum was good, but it did not have the stealth and gadgets begins emphasized on.
AA felt more like a brawler then a stealth game.
did not have enough detective parts either, i mean come on the caped crusader is the best detective out there!

I was talking about the movie, not the game.

"…firstly, the team took inspiration from the movie "Batman Begins,"…"

The game was rubbish as well IMO.

So basically, when they say there's multiple solutions to the puzzles, they're saying that they're making them easier? There should only ever be one solution to a puzzle IMO. Plus, with that survival instinct thing that highlights useful objects, how the hell are we not going to be able to solve all of these puzzles in under 5 minutes (a bit of an exaggeration, but you get my point)?

The Innovative Camera Frame thing just sounds like they're trying to catch up to Uncharted in that regard, but the rest sounds pretty cool. Provided they can fix the camera and make the combat a bit better too, they could finally have a good TR game again. But only time will tell if that's the case.

soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy to have my baby back!
just finished playing the TR collection last week, reminds me how ahead of there time those games were!
shame they did not spruce up the graphics much, i mean come on they dont even look like they are in HD!
i was expecting PoP collection graphics, ubisoft did a surprisingly fantastic job on that!
