Dark Souls , the spiritual successor to the fantastic yet wicked challenging Demon's Souls , will be even harder…in fact, it'll be the "most difficult game possible." . If you're up for the challenge, put a big ol' circle around the entire month of October (just 'cuz we're not sure of the exact date yet). Namco has confirmed release estimates for Dark Souls in Japan, Europe and the US: the Japanese will see it in September and European/US gamers will get it the month after. October is typically a huge month, jam packed with tons of new titles, but we can pretty much guarantee that not a one will be anything like From Software's new offering. Demon's Souls was completely original and we expect nothing less from the follow-up effort.
If the first made you throw the controller out the window, don't bother. But if you loved every second of that Demon's Souls challenge, Dark Souls will be yours. Right?

It'll probably be mine. I don't remember having as much fun with a hard game as I did with Demon's Souls. Can't wait to once again roam another terrifing world, looking for messages of doom on the ground left by others, waiting to fall victim to some horrible trap or ambush. What's not to like? =^.^=
I absolutely loved Demon's Souls and I still have a few things to go through for the Platinum. I will defintely be getting this one when it comes out.
This is what makes this generation worth it. An rpg that doesn't feel like it needs to bow down to anything or anyone just to conform with the casual and twitchy gamers.
As much as I'm going to play Uncharted 3 I will most definitely be playing this more.
A month later? Well at least it gives me time to finish up on my WKC2 playthroughs.
If only more gamers had the guts to pass on FFXIII-2 and get this instead.
That's nice, just in a few more months we can play dark souls. But it kind of feels a bit too soon to be playing a sequel. I know that Japan has had it since early 09, but north America got it in late 2009, and Europe got the game even later. I'm also looking forward to armoured core 5, is'nt it coming out around the same time too? I might be thinking of the Japanese release date.
It's not a sequel, it's a completely different game but with the same atmosphere.

This game is going on my Christmas list. With Uncharted, Skyrim and Sonic Generations all coming out near the end of the year, I have to save some cash for Christmas.
yeah this is definitely going to stint my social life
I was kind of hoping that this wouldn't make it until next year. Alas, it was not to be. It should slot in nicely between TM and UC3. And of course be much, much longer than either of them. Can't wait!

I still won't have finished Demon's Souls by the time this arrives. It's a game I love but am hopeless at.
If Dark Souls is kind of a spiritual successor then you can put my name down for it too, and I'll struggle to finish them both for years to come. That's great value for money right there.

That's a kind offer, but I'm actually okay with the slow progress. It's a game I go back to every few months or whatever – which is great because most games I hammer until I'm sick of them. Thanks anyway, mate.

I now that dark souls in not a continuation of the story but will retain core game play mechanics with additional new features. The game play will be pretty darn close to demons souls of course. I've spent so much time playing the game that I feel a little fatigue to be playing another game of the same type all over again. And then there's armoured core 5 that might release at the same time, maybe. I want both , but my attention can only be on one.
I'm still enjoying Demon's Souls, but I want this game right now!!! I have to say since I decided to go back and plat DS my entire perspective of the game changed. I just wanted to beat it to say I did it. Then I fell in love. It's like a whole new world opened up to me as I began to familiarize myself with the PvP, which in itself is like nothing I've experienced anywhere else. Very satisfying.
If anyone needs help with anything (including the plat) add me when PSN is back, or you can add me in advance for Dark Souls. Either way the more people I have to play them with, the better. Also I have the NA version.

I'm actually not sure what one was my favorite but when I seen the message Sticky White Stuff on the floor of one of the bosses I couldn't stop laughing though.

Am I the only one who finds Demon's Souls not particularly hard? Sure I was frustrated for the first few hours but after that it was a breeze, well as much of a breeze Demon's Souls can be. Still it is harder than basically every game.
It was hard at first but it was pretty easy later on once I got the hang of it. I don't like the Flamelurker though, my most hated boss.
Agreed, I use a ranged thief and the flamelurker had to be the hardest boss fight. The swamps also sucked a lot.
ive rarely been truly challenged by a game this gen. Its not that they're too easy, its just not enough of a struggle. Im taking on DS2 hardcore mode on soon, but i dont know, if this game is truely taxing, I may give it a shot, even though im not an rpg fan
lol the last true rpg i think I owned was arc the lad on ps2.
That's much sooner than I expected and I'm perfectly happy with that. Can't really get Dark Souls soon enough.

I love the sound of that , only one month to wait after it s released in Japan .
I also love the sound of the games being more challenging then demons souls .The difficulty of demons souls was a real letdown for me . It was nowhere near as difficult as people who played the Japan version were saying .
Sure it was hard the first few hours but after you understood how the game worked , it got Average ( difficulty wise ) .
Demon's Souls was so hard, I died even in the moment in which I got the platinum trophy. I mean, I've been killed one second after picking up the last ring and the sound of the trophy overlapped the too-often-seen "You died" screen…
I'm gonna love this Dark Souls (and hate with all my heart at the same time.. :D)!
