And that's why we're happy to see Valve's latest doing well on the sales charts. Well, the numbers aren't official just yet, but Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has revealed that the masterful puzzle title has sold about 4 million worldwide (excluding Steam sales). Approximately 1 million were boxed copies for consoles in the U.S. during the NPD's April period. Thus far, these console sales alone have generated around $60 million, which is good news, right? We're hoping more people continue to reward Valve for this game, which may lack in the replay department but offers an unparalleled single-player adventure that is both challenging and immensely rewarding. We'll see if the game can continue to garner sales – and new fans – in the months to come.
As for GotY…well, it's a long year. There are a whole lot of games coming. We can pretty much guarantee Portal 2 will at least be nominated, though.
