These days, portable gaming is a big deal.
EA has listed "handheld/mobile" releases for both DICE's Battlefield 3 and BioWare's Mass Effect 3 . Now, they could only be referring to spin-off titles for the iPhone or Android, but there is the slight possibility that we could be looking at Nintendo 3DS or Sony NGP releases. The latter might be powerful enough to run both full next-gen titles (although we imagine even the NGP couldn't quite handle the insanity that will be Battlefield 3 ). Both "handheld/mobile" versions of the games in question are slated to arrive at about the same time as their full counterparts: Q4 2011 for DICE's shooter and Q1 2012 for the epic RPG. I can't imagine who would want to play ME3 on a freakin' iPhone, but whatever. I know I'm out of the loop.
We'll have to learn a bit more about the NGP's planned launch schedule before making any further predictions.
