Analyst Michael Pachter has predicted the next Grand Theft Auto will sell upwards of 20 million copies. But apparently, another title has already hit that lofty plateau.
Several sources are reporting on the analyst's recent Tweet , which says Call of Duty: Black Ops has sold 20 million copies (though we're not certain if he's referring to a worldwide number). The best-selling video game in U.S. history, publisher Activision has already raked in over $1 billion on the most recent CoD installment, and most assume Modern Warfare 3 will be here for the 2011 holiday rush. As for Black Ops , Pachter says 12 million Xbox 360 copies were sold, and he predicts the recently released $15 Escalation expansion pack will hit 4 million. It'll probably help when the PlayStation Network comes back online, although it's clear CoD is more popular on Microsoft's console. …we have no further comment.
For the record, the last official sales number attached to Black Ops came from the March NPD statement, which placed the game at 13.7 million in the U.S. alone.

I think his text looks normal on his screen.
The Doom says 1st post; "What are you talking about?"
2nd Post; "I'm being serious; too much time for what? could you elaborate?"
I speak backwards. 😉
damn, sorry i'm not fluent in dumba$$ but i can speak idiot a little. hahaha jk
@johnld
lol! Idiot is my first language!
Okay, how the hell did this 7 month old game sell 6.3 million more copies between March and May (assuming they included March sales in the NPD numbers)?
Actually, a better question would be, why didn't the clearly superior FPS's Killzone 3 and Crysis 2 not sell better than this turd?
Btw, once again I'm loving (sarcasm) Pachter's obvious statements. "I think a DLC to the best-selling game ever will have high sales." Good thing for him its his job to make obvious predictions (at least according to Game Informer).

Reason is, they are not part of the yellow submarine happy clappy charade…

those games arent selling well because they ARE better games. the market trend right now, or for the past few years are no thinking type of gaming. Thats basically what COD is, just run and gun. the highest level of thinking you need to do is determine enemy or ally. that or what spot to camp. killzone needs strategy to work while crysis takes cunning tactics. ever since i played crysis 2 online, i havent seen ANY campers at all. and this is a game that gives you cloaking and armor.
It has to be worldwide sales. There is simply no other possible reason for a sudden jump of that size. And that's not outside the realm of possibility. Damn near every gamer and his dog has Black Ops around here.
It sales more based off of name recoginition. I buy Jordans and Nikes, though Addidas makes some of the best shoes as far a quality goes for a cheaper price and actually perform better on the court. Don't buy J's or certain nikes for the court though, but for ballers…addidas is the way to go, yet most will waste money on expensive Nikes. People love CoD because its all they know and don't care to expand their gaming preference.
That is truly insane. With PSN down so much , I am sure the xBots have been making more sales of this game…
Black Ops seems to be gold dust at the moment. These FPS's are like a new gold rush out in the wild west…
Incredible!

DAMNIT! I'm playing the damn game now, but seeing no reason for sales of this level. It's bloody ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I see the inherent quality of it, but it's just dull as ditchwater.
Review incoming upon completion, and to be accompanied by a completely opinionated look at the game immediately following the review in the comments section. So yes, I am trying to look at it objectively, and I think succeeding to some extent.
Peace.
and this is news how?
in other amazing stories water is wet, the sky is blue and planes make a f*cking racket!
Thankfully i can proudly say that i have not parted with my hard earned money in this regard
I'm jealous. lol
You and I both.
It could just be that perhaps people, like myself have been buying it for the call of the dead dlc. i have had absolutely no interest in any of the cod games but i do really wanna go running around as danny trejo kicking zombie butt, as a result i am lowering my standards and have just bought a copy of this senseless drivel, doubt very highly if the sp campaign will ever even be looked at though
does anyone know when escalation will hit ps3
