It seems like most every big PlayStation 3 exclusive boasts 3D and PlayStation Move support these days.

But don't expect Sucker Punch's highly anticipated inFamous 2 to include such features. According to what creative director Nate Fox told European site GameZ.nl , the team simply didn't have enough time to incorporate such additions.

Furthermore, he said they'd rather focus on options for the nifty new user-generated content, which had been in beta testing until the Network went down. Fox stated that they want to "concentrate fully" on that new feature before looking into either 3D or Move, which sort of implies support for both could come at some point in the near future. It's just that time is running short and the designers clearly want to focus on the core aspects of the gameplay and presentation, which makes perfect sense. For our part, we really don't need either 3D or Move for this one; there are just some games that will be awesome on their own.

If you've forgotten, inFamous 2 hits store shelves on June 7, and we couldn't possibly be more excited.

Sounds good to me. Those features are merely "extras", if you ask me. Glad to hear (and yet not surprised) that they're focusing of getting what they've got done right!

Agreed. I don't even know how they would impliment PS Move into it anyway? Would you use the sharpshooter? Seems very unnecessary.

Jawknee

No need for the sharpshooter. It could work much like it worked for Socom or any 3rd person shooter for that matter. It could actually be pretty cool if done right but if they don't have time, I'd rather they not do it at all than try and rush it. They are making the right decision.

I just don't see how it could would, there's where more to the game than TPS elements.

True but all there are more than enough buttons on both the Move and Nav unit to make it work.

No, I need my hands to be close to each other, otherwise it's just chaos! Imagine a world where we held a tiny controller in each hand and gamed with our hands laying limply at our sides.

I wouldn't mind playing a game only using our brain functions, that would be interesting.

I'd be fine with it. I supposed the Wii got me used to using two separate controllers.

I don't mind the 3d being out. Could have been good with move incorporated though. But that would just be a plus I still find myself using my DS3 the majority of the time. Can't wait for this one!

Lol how did Move ruin Socom 4? You don't have to use it. It's merely an option for goodness sake. I'm with Jimmy, give it a rest.

The lack of recoil in the game it's because of the move and thats my opinion about socom just like you got yours i think the game SUCKS and i will say it how many times i want.

I know nothing of Socom but if implementing Move dumbed down the regular controls in any way then I'm with you.

mid10smaradoarg

It did dumbed down the gameplay A LOT.

It's optional though, you can still kick peoples butt though if you ask me.

jimmyhandsome

How does the option of using move affect how the developers made the guns' recoil?

And you're certainly entitled to your opinion. I know that the series and this installment in particular has a love/hate fan base, but the article you responded in has to do with an entirely different game. And yet you still sneak in a bash against Socom 4.

@ mid10smaradoarg

You sound suspiciously like drpacifist over on the SOCOM.com boards.

I don't see how move/sharpshooter implementation has anything to do with the removal of recoil in SOCOM 4. All recoil in FPS/TPS games are simulated by having the reticle bounce around on the screen when you hold down the trigger. Whether you compensate by moving your hand slightly, or your thumb it shouldn't make a difference as far as what your preferred control scheme is.

No problem there at all, this is the kind of game where I don't want Move controls, and I haven't got a 3D TV, so I don' really care much about 3D in the game.

I'm Move's biggest fan! If this was a FPS we were talking about I'd be devastated. Since it's 3rd person with a free cam I'm not so sure. In theory it should be okay. Any game you could play with KB&M should be well suited to Move also.

Hopefully a future patch will show us just how versatile the Move is.

Yeah, if you ask me it would work better with FPS, and RPG games. But I don't think it would work well with how Infamous plays.

I'm quite fine with that. This game requires neither of those gimmicks.

3D is a fad

I wish the industry would realize it.

TheHighlander

The movie industry is sticking with 3D for a surprisingly long time this time around. I wouldn't be surprised if 3D content continues to be offered as a premium service, but I just can't see 3D becoming a standard feature for everything on our screens.

I think 3D could prove to be a greater addition to games than it ever was to movies.

ps. Still haven't seen ANY stereoscopic 3D. It's just a hunch 🙂

The industry does realize it, you should always capitalize on fads then when they run their course get back to the matter at hand. That way they'll have more money to make great games!

I wish Insomniac skipped out on the 3D/Move support for Resistance 3. No need to waste time implementing that stuff, just focus on the SP and MP.

I'd agree but I read a report that they've already completed the SP campaign. They're just fine tuning everything up until its release.

It's gonna be hard putting 3D to a guy whizzing around on electric wires. Sure, normal TPS should have no problem since movement isn't that fast. But here…

Good decision.

Thank GOD, all we need is inFamous having a half assed frame rate so more people can give themselves headaches. I don't care if they set up a patch later but for now it's much better that they focus on getting out a quality product without unnecessary delays for these frivolous children's curiosities.

Jawknee
Jawknee

The frame rate in 2D mode isn't affected by the addition of 3D. Killzone 3 and GT5 run great in 2D. Just as good as you would expect them to. Socom 4 runs at maximum frame rate and full resolution in both 2D and 3D. So the tech is improving. If they had more time, they could make the game in 3D and it would still run fantastic. But since they don't have the time I'm fine with them not implementing it at all.

Snorge

And Socom 4 looks NICE in 3D…didnt even have to say it I could tell its running in full resolution!

Good one Ben. That date has been circled in red a long time around here.

It better not get a GT5 or FF13 release date postponement. There will be riots. RIOTS!!!

I'm glad they are focusing on the gameplay, but 3D would've been awesome in this game. I can just imagine the kind of depth it would show being on top of a building looking out over the skyline. That would be so cool. Oh and looking down off of buildings to shoot the baddies. Again i'm glad that they are focusing on the gameplay but i really think this is a game that would do 3D well.

I agree with Jawk. So what if some of you think it's a gimmick or fad. It is fun and more engrossing. I guess it is in the eyes of the beholder. Oh well, whats great about having a 3d tv is that when not in 3D. They are some of the best looking tv's you can get. Win/Win!!! LOL

I have a beef to pick with my PS3 friends in the US. The numbers tell me that American preorders for inFamous 2 are at 61,271 and that is unacceptable!

Buy this game or I'll beat you about the breasts and buttocks with a stick.

well I decided not to preorder it simply because I have some best buy gift cards and I'm going to use them to get the hero edition for almost no cost to myself.

I would still pre order it, but best buy has this stupid policy that you can't pay for it in full ahead of time, so it's just easier to go pick it up on release day.
