Valve Talks Portal 2, Confirms DLC For This Summer

Man, we love Portal 2 .

And that's why we were interested in a recent Fast Company interview with Valve lead writer Erik Wolpaw, designer/engineer Jeep Barnett, and VP of marketing Doug Lombardi. Give it a read; it's well worth your time if you're a Portal fan; we especially like the answer for "What did you learn from making Portal 2?" They talk about the fantastic voice performances, which we singled out in our review, and how important it is to have top-notch talent. Stephen Merchant, J.K. Simmons and Ellen McLain played a huge role in that game's appeal. Also, at the end, note the confirmation of incoming downloadable content this summer:

"We will be announcing some DLC for it, so folks can keep a look out for more content coming this summer. We'll be putting more details out about that in a week or so. We'll support that with more videos or more comics."

Well, whatever extra content you feel like producing for Portal 2 , we'll be all over it. That's for damn sure.

Definitely agree with the voice talent being important these days. I don't have P2 but I know how much the voice talent complemented Bioshock 1 and 2.

voice acting in Bioshock was superb. the only thing tho is that the lip sync sucked 😛

Amen to that! The voices in Bioshock were some of the best I have ever heard, and was a major contributor to the overall atmosphere.

Man I love Bioshock.

Blah….leave it to the mod community and stick with pumping out HL3.

Atleast PC users can continue to enjoy some FREE DLC. I love Valve, they've charged for DLC on the PC. Hopefully they don't on the PSN, I know they are required to on the 360.

I think you mean they haven't charged on PC. But they probably will on PS3 in order to keep the console experience "the same across platforms".

I'm kinda hoping they do a bunch of dlc for this over the next several months.

Mostly just because I want them to release a complete addition with all of it packaged together.

This game is *perfect* for dlc. It's already long enough so were not getting ripped off with the game itself, and clever new puzzles should be possible to add without having to download huge graphic files etc.
It's just perfect. This is what dlc should be used for.
