Yeah, it's about that time to torture you again.
The bad news is that L.A. Noire is still almost a month away; the good news is that it's less than four weeks away. …perspective is a powerful thing. Anyway, the latest gameplay series video for Team Bondi's ultra-promising title has arrived from Rockstar, and it's awesome.
Rising through the ranks should be both challenging and fulfilling, and there's no doubt that the patient, cautious, and astute will succeed. We've wanted a true-blue detective thriller for years and it appears that very game will be here soon… Rockstar gave us the first elite Western-themed adventure last year; looks like they're into breaking barriers these days.

I can't see any game being a better experience for me this year than this

This game will no doubt go down in the books of top quality gaming.Rockstar on a roll!
this game will be epic! can not wait to play it.
Damnit! Of the many games I want this year, L.A. Noire is one of the few that I'm all but certain of being a D1P. It's just so promising, and apparently long that I can't wait. Why must you keep teasing me like this Ben?
Peace.
P.S. You're doing a video commentary on this one yeah? Tell me, are you planning on doing a review for FFIV: The Complete Collection? Because I'd really like to know what PSXE thinks of it. Hell, even the members can feel free to contribute their feelings on the original game. Would it be a good one to start on considering I've only played XIII (though I've got X and X-2 in packaging on my bookshelf. Have to get to them sometime.) Thanks in advance.
Yes, we'll be doing video commentary for L.A. Noire and yes, I'll be doing a review of the FFIV Collection…it's sitting right here. 🙂
Thankyou and thankyou.
this game does look pretty good. i just have too much on my plate to even think about this one. with all the goods coming out later this year, i have to plan more strategically. so there's this game, infamous 2, twisted metal, R3, uncharted 3, battlefield 3. ugh. no idea what 2 choose.
Hmmm, I heard some things that brought about more worries for me. Rankings and scores in single player games have never been done well. For example FF 13, how many times did you find yourself asking why you only got so many stars.
Also this replaying crimes to get a better score and following different leads. I'm seeing preset trails to follow and you have to take each correct trail in order to achieve the best score possible.
I hope I'm wrong, I hope this game is one of the best of the year, but that nagging voice is still there.
Ben when you review this, play one of the missions several times and really test how this is set up please. It could shed some light on how these cases are actually set up.
Isn't it enough that you can approach any case from a number of different avenues of inquest and solve them the way you see fit?
I wouldn't say…never. Hitman, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear Solid, some others, I'm sure, have done it pretty well. It sucks sometimes but it's a hell of an incentive having that 'carrot' of perfection just dangling a few correct button presses form your grasp. Never cared for the current trophy/achievement fad, but I like in-game grading systems.
But the course-correcting restrictive freedom may be a turn off for some. I understand Kraygen's mistrust for this reason. Obviously you'll be rewarded for being a better detective, but I'd like to know what sort of effect that has on the game itself. The score setup is odd, as you should be free to feel good for solving the case, not disappointed in yourself for only managing a C because of some silly choice, or overlooked clue. I hope Team Bondi has managed to balance that properly.
Peace.
Since the goal is to be a good detective and not a bad one I'd say it's an okay mechanic. I wouldn't recommend people replaying every scene in Heavy Rain DURING their first playthrough to get lots of trophies cuz it would ruin things, but it can be done.
Well it's just a concern I have because so many games have had really terrible grading systems.
I hope this one is awesome, but I can't help but worry that it could be an issue.
This looks an exceptionally good game.
Think i'm gonna play bad cop/worse cop first time through the story!
D1p
That video isn't working for me, but that's cool I don't need it. Already got it on preorder. It has been a long wait for me since I knew I'd love it since the teaser way back when it was exclusive. I'm still surprised that people are skeptical about this game.
Can't wait to get this. This game just looks amazing and fun as hell. Already got it preordered from Amazon.
I wonder if one of the trophies will be for getting your fedora.
wish this game would come out early!
out of all the days i could of booked my surgery it had to be the day my most anticipated game of the year releases!
i swear to god, i gotta find that black cat before it kills me!
hmmmmmm, wonder if i can visit team bondi and sweet talk my way to a early copy………
Its coming. its coming! Not too long to wait now…
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
_______________,
What surgery, puberty or lobotomy?(only kidding)
On a more serious note, hope everything surgery wise goes well.
Can't wait for this one 🙂
I don't know if someone else mentioned this or not here, but if you preorder the game at Gamestop and you're a member of the Power Up Rewards service you'll get an additional exclusive gun to use in the game.
I love the time period and the ranking system shown in the vid. Now time to find some crappy games I bought to sell or trade lol.
i'm no fan of the time period, but a good detective game sounds great. heavy rain could have been a lot better in that aspect. the ari glassess were neat, but the way the clues would just pop up was unrealistic. it would work for a star trek episode, but felt out of place in a gritty crime thriller.
Glad they added "This trailer was made entirely from in-game footage" to the end of the video to help the clowns who don't know what they're looking at.
And that motion scan stuff looks fantastic. Not sure how anyone can think that it's not a true step up in gaming.
Haha…Mr. Jealous Cage doesn't think so.
Looks very impresive, I think i'll wait untill the reviews are in, but I'd be suprised if it does not get good reception
"Yeah, it's about that time to torture you again."
– I… can't… wait… ugh!
Looking good. Can't wait to play it.
