Analyst firm EEDAR attended Sony's media event yesterday, and came away with quite a few positive observations.
Analyst Jesse Divnich sent over his appraisals this morning and first on the list is this- " Uncharted 3 in 3D looked phenomenal." He also adds that "with a sea of first-person shooters scheduled for this holiday season, Uncharted 3 is in a prime position to appeal to the non-shooter crowd." Clarifying that he hasn't been overly impressed by many 3D presentations in the past (and neither have we), he said the game looks so good in the new dimension that Naughty Dog's gem "could do for 3D gaming what "Avatar" did for 3D movies." That's a relatively bold statement, wouldn't you say?
Moving along to the rest of Sony's exclusive lineup for 2011, Divnich says Sony is "well positioned for continued software growth on the PlayStation 3." In fact, Sony keeps outperforming the competition in the realm of software growth in 2011 (worldwide), and he believes this is largely due to the greater number of first-party releases. Next up is the NGP…which deserves a separate headline. Just a moment…
Dammit. Now I need a new 3DTV and a new PS3…
im sure it will look great in 2d let alone 3d lol
Avatar in 3D didn't look all that different than 2D.
Uncharted 3 is a game which has real 3d models in a real 3d world so will look way better in 3D!
totally agree on the avatar comment…
i'm so psyched for UC3 that i want it right now…
Its a whole different story from a Movie to a Game. It just jumps so much more when your are in control versus just sitting back and watching the action.
huh?
massive added depth, and heaps off effects flying towards you make little difference?
Yet, I don't hear Naughty Dog crying about the next generation..
I am afraid of what Naughty Dog will do in the next generation. Very afraid. In the best of ways that is.
Indeed sir. Indeed.
I think it's starting to appear obvious that when 3rd party devs cry for a new "console generation" they really mean "can we get a new Xbox, your HDDless piece of crap and DVD limits are dragging us down."
I'm not sold on 3d tvs; I still see it as a [pricy] fad. However, I will be getting Uncharted 3 on day 1.
Not a pricey fad when I got my 55" LED 3D Bravia for less than what I paid for my 52" Samsung LCD non-3Dtv 3 years ago.
Totally agree with Jawknee. I got my 55" LED Samsung with the 3D kit with a 3D blu ray player for less than my 46" LCD Samsung 3 1/2 years ago.
It's totally freakin' worth it.
I third that. I have a 46" Bravia that cost me a pretty penny, but it has been well worth the investment.
Naughty Dog will deliver. Uncharted 3 is the MONSTER title to look for this year! Accolades out the ying yang from UC2 has the Dogs in the spotlight. If any dev will pull it off its them.
Wow, Uncharted 3 really always is toping out its previous games. Just wow. I wish more developers were like Naughty Dog.
This is good news for sure and I'm hoping that this good news gets out into the world past us ps3 junkies and to the eyes and ears of the mainstream media.
People need to know that ps3 exclusives are just plain better.
Indeed it does. Anyone with a 3Dtv needs to download the 3D trailer on PSN asap.
Too bad about year and a half ago I bought 3d tv that's no longer supported… It did show me that 3d right now is hard on the eyes. So, until tech is improved, I'm sticking with tv that doesn't cause pain.
I haven't had any issues. I play GT5 and Killzone 3 for hours in 3D and have had zero issues. My wife on the other hand got a headache only after an hour from watching a movie. Depends on the person I guess.
You don't have to be an analyst, or even SEE any videos to know that Naughty Dog is going to do everything absolutely PERFECT with this game!
Taking Uncharted into uncharted 3D waters.
That f*****' sucks, I have a friend that loves both the Killzone and Uncharted series and he won't be able to experience 3D.

umm ok so play it in 2d, problem solved.
Obviously that's what hes going to do or has been doing. He's just stating that his friend won't have the luxury of experiencing it in 3D. He said nothing about him not being able to play in 2D.
Well, then what's to complain about???
Hmm, okay. An interesting statement, and if they can pull it off, so much the better. But I'm fine with 2D for now.
Peace.
Again… Calling it right now. Game of the Year!!! Although not all games look super fantastic in 3D. There are a couple that look absolutely amazing as well. Thats a very bold statement about UC3 and Avatar. I so hope it's true!!!
I'm with Jawk. It takes a minute to adjust but I can play for hours in 3D. It's pretty awesome actually. LOL
I have noticed all 3D games so far are plagued by crosstalk/ ghosting. Whereas watching Tron 3D the other night had absolutely none. I have hope that Uncharted 3 will be the first to change that. I replayed part 2 a while ago using my TV's 3D conversion mode, and cant wait to see 3 in true 3D.
If you adjust the depth settings properly it usually gets rid of the ghosting.
It doesn't take 3D or an analyst for Uncharted 3 to look good. Its just one of those no brainers.
Yeah ghosting is there but it doesn't really take away from the experience as a whole.
ill believe it when i see it!
allot of devs have been claming there game in 3D as the second coming, and none have delivered.
games have a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way to go till they get to movie standards!
