We've already had Killzone 3 , LittleBigPlanet 2 , and MLB 11: The Show , all of which are elite titles.

But as Sony reminded as at the PlayStation Blog , that's just a small taste of what's to come exclusively to the PlayStation brand in 2011. SOCOM 4 launches next week, and Sony will invite their media partners to get a behind-the-scenes look at the likes of inFamous 2 , Twisted Metal , Resistance 3 , and Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One . And of course, we can't forget about Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception and more games for the advancing PlayStation Move. Along with stereoscopic 3D and more great additions to the PlayStation Network – we want thatgamecompany's Journey – we have to admit: it's a darn good time to own a PS3. The PSP also has quite the large library these days and if you're a role-playing buff, you can't ignore the availability of traditional RPGs on the portable unit.

With all these exclusives, it's gonna be tough on the wallet. But they're worth it, aren't they?

Pretty much all those games you mentioned are worth it, Ben. The quality of those titles more than makes up for the empty wallet at the end of the year.

Agreed. Sony is sure making it difficult to spend money on multi-platform titles.

For those who have to stretch their gaming dollar value , the Blockbuster Game Pass is a great way to play all of the hottest games while they're hot. Then, after 6-9 months, or so, pick up your favorites of the bunch for about a third of it's original cost.
It's worked pretty well for me.

I heard blockbuster is going out of business, but I could be wrong and it could just be the blockbusters where I live at. Now Hollywood is definitely gone, along with game crazy and movie gallery (all owned by the same people). I think it happened in 2009 or 2010. Can easily search the internet to find out more.

I'm in utter shock that Sony's first party exclusives don't get the attention they deserve this gen by the general gaming media.

At least I'm happy with the offerings, I've never seen anything quite like it. PS2 had lots of great exclusives but lots were 3rd party. This gen it's like the 1st party devs have kicked it up ten notches in overall quality.

World Exclusive Prediction: A Sony-Quantic Dream contract inked by the end of 2012.

2012, I think there needs to be sufficient hype broiling after at least one of QD's 2 projects are revealed (one may happen at E3 based on rumblings).

Lawless SXE

Considering that it was roughly two years after the release of LBP that Sony acquired MM, it isn't outside the realm of possibility that they will wait a similar amount of time to pick up QD. Or they'll do it just in time to pump up the hype for their latest project, which should be the codename InfraWorld.
Peace.

I am not in shock over it at all. In the USA, if it doesn't have the word Xbox 360, it's barely on the radar.

The lack of mention when it comes to The ICO Collection or The Last Guardian in that statement is a little disheartening. I REALLY hope those still hit this year. Otherwise, I'm really only looking forward to Uncharted 3 and maybe Twisted Metal now. Oh, and of course… Journey.

I've been having to play Sniper: Ghost Warrior on my bot box, but I can't wait to get my PS3 fixed & get back to some real gaming, this year's going to be more awesome-r than the last!

BTW, I'm going to take a chance & ship my PS3 over to Gophermods in Minnesota tomorrow to repair my blinking red light of death. They only charge $69.99 for it, using only Artic-5 thermal paste and using the same re-flow machines that NASA uses.

And they have a 24-48 hour turn-around, they give you back your very own console, they don't delete anything off your hard-drive, and they'll also return any game that's stuck in it too.

So wish me luck that I'll be back to playing KZ3 next week!!!!!!

But this time during any future marathon gaming sessions, I WILL shut my machine down for a 1/2 hour after every 2 hours of game playtime just so my Princess doesn't get heat-stroke any time soon again. And come July, I should be getting a slim & putting a 750HD in it, just so I'll have a backup for my baby & also to add it in my collection

That sucks, around here they don't even do that. The only thing they will fix is the other 2 consoles/PC's and other electronics but not PS3.

Red light of death.
The 'death' really gives the phrase a boost.
Same as 'yellow light of death' for the ps3. Makes me laugh every time I hear it.

All we need now is the epic thunder strike behind the speaker.

I just had mine repaired. Gone for a week and cost £75. Now I have it back, it appears to overheat after about 30 minutes of play.

Should be interesting trying to watch a film on it 🙁

World,
I forgot to add that to my post, but I will definitely post how it went with Gophermods, especially seeing how they're somewhere in your neck of the woods of MN, Minneapolis to be exact.

BTW, they repair to ALL consoles, plus numerous phones too.

Clamedeus,
Yeah, I live in New Jersey so I'm hating having to send my PS3 all the way to Minnesota, but I guess sending it to Sony would've been far too.
Anyway, you get your own console right back, and this place doesn't mess with anything on your hard drive, so you get to keep all your saved stuff too

gunblademaster,
Well the yellow light & the red blinking light are 2 completely different failures. Mine(red blinking light) was caused by all my marathon gaming sessions that caused my thermal heat paste to deteriorate more rapidly, which caused my fan to start running on high off & on(mostly on).
BTW, I'm not sure what the exact failure is with the yellow light but it's a much more serious failure cause they only charge $69.99 to fix my blinking red light, but they chargedouble, at $139.99 for yellow light failures.
I'm thinking "hardware failure"(motherboard, etc), but maybe Highlander might know what the associated yellow failures are.

Gabriel013, Sorry to hear you're still having problems after the repair.
Where did you send your console out to be fixed?????

Anyway, if anyone wants to check out Gophermods in the meantime, here's their website link….

"this time during any future marathon gaming sessions, I WILL shut my machine down for a 1/2 hour after every 2 hours of game playtime"

I hear the wise move is to allow the fans to cool the machine whilst it idles, rather than shut it off at full temperature. Look into it, Biker. We don't want you suffering anymore.

I didn't use those third party repair shops because I do not trust them. I advise you to be cautious…

BikerSaint
BikerSaint

Radioheader,
I believe you are right about that, & I will start doing it that way.
BTW, nice catch on that 411.

Bugzbunny109,
I've been leery of 3rd party's too, but they seem to have a lot of good reviews & a 95% rating, so I decided to give them a shot, especially since I don't want to keep losing all my %^&%^$ locked game saves(already lost about 8 damned game saves so far).

Anyway, I sent my PS3 to them today, by first class snail mail($21.85 with tracking # & $500 insurance) & the post office says it should reach them by next Tuesday(snail mail is quite fitting name for them, & I should have just gone with Gophermods own FedEx shipping label.
The frigging post office could have sent it by 1-day Priority Mail, but they are F*cking crazy if they think I'm going to pay them $70.00 just for that.

Anyway, I'll be tracking my baby all the way there, plus Gophermods says they'll email me when they receive it, again during the repairs, again after it's done, & again(with a tracking number) once they ship it back out to me by FedEx.

And I will be posting how my experience goes.

That's right! Infamous 2 on your face ya'll!

Seriously, ps3 dominates all year. LBP2 and KZ3, now we'll get Infamous 2, White Knight Chronicles 2, and SOCOM 4. Then we might even get Starhawk later on, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, Journey, R&C All 4 One, Twisted Metal, and maybe The Last Guardian?

Who needs multiplats? lol

Just look at the freaking diversity in that list…

Scarecrow

Without reasons?

I do respect your choice, but care to give reasons?

My reason is that exclusives are better in EVERYTHING. From graphics to gameplay, they far outshadow most multiplats.

Lawless SXE

Because Dark Souls is not an exclusive. Reason enough?

kraygen
kraygen

That's a little unfair though lawless because dark souls is being developed exclusively for the ps3. They are just allowing a publisher to port it to the 360.

So technically it'll be exclusive quality for us ps3 owners.

PorkChopGamer

I love intelligent FP games, so I NEED Portal 2. I love to solve crimes and catch serial killers, so I NEED LA Noire. I love action RPGs, so I NEED Hunted: The Demon Forge, Dark Souls, and Dungeon Seige 3. I love rally racers, so I NEED Dirt 3. I love fighters, so I NEED Mortal Kombat. I loved the first Alice so I'm damn sure NEED Madness Returns. I love quirky games so I NEED Catherine. L love Batman, so I NEED Arkham City. I love flight games, so I NEED Ace Combat. I love games that I can affect the storyline with my actions in previous game, so for the love of everything, I NEED Mass Effect 3. And I didn't mention Battlefield 3, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, and a few others

Anyway, I'm not trying to break you out of your fanboy-induced stupor, but there is no way that every single game on your list is superior than every game on mine. I'd get a lot more diversity out of my list even if I didn't buy all the game on yours, which I'm definitely going to do.

maxpontiac
maxpontiac

PorkChop–

I believe while under your ignorance-induced-stupor you are failing to catch the point.

Everyone of those games you have mentioned is on the PS3.

PLUS the games that Ben highlighted. The PS3 is where the games are at. Bottom line.

PorkChopGamer
PorkChopGamer

No, MP, I think it's you who fails to see the point of this little conversation here. Scarecrow asked 'Who needs multimplats?' It's PS3 exclusives vs. Multiplats. Multiplats by there very definition are going to be on the PS3. Not sure how you missed that, but you did try hard, so kudos for that I suppose….

And to clarify even further, The big question is can a gamer's appetite be satiated by PS3 exclusives(or exclusives on ANY system) alone.

My gaming appetite could be satiated with fighting games alone, but the addict in me wants more, more, more!

PorkChop.

Did you not read my last sentence that mentioned that the PS3 is where the games are at? That was my point.

In answer to your question, it all comes down to the players tastes in genres. If what the PS3 exclusives have is your cup of tea, the obvious answer is yes.

The PS3 has nearly every genre covered exclusive wise. That's not disputable.

inFamous 2 and Uncharted 3 for me. I may take a look at R3 but something tells me I'm not going to care for the sp experience. Whenever they take my gun away and force me to swing a hammer in an fps I just lose interest.

And I HIGHLY doubt Jaffe is releasing anything in 2011.
