L.A. Noire Pre-Order Goodies To Become DLC Sooner

Nobody likes to wait.

The pre-order bonuses that came with Red Dead Redemption (the Deadly Assassin Outfit, Golden Guns Weapon Pack, and the War Horse) will be available as downloadable content on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace next week.

…thing is, RDR came out almost a year ago. Will the same thing happen to L.A. Noire , set to launch next month, right around the 1-year anniversary of John Marsten's memorable Western adventure? Well, no, the pre-order exclusive bonuses won't take so long this time around, according to Kotaku :

"Apologies to everyone for having to wait so long to get these available as DLC as there were some unanticipated technical delays – for those of you inquiring about the expected availability of the L.A. Noire preorder bonuses as DLC after game release, those should become available as DLC much, much sooner."

But maybe they shouldn't do that. Doesn't it make the pre-order incentives that much less appealing? We all know most of those incentives become available as DLC at some point, and the sooner they show up, the less we care about pre-ordering, right? Well, of course…one set is free while the other isn't. Maybe that's all that matters.

Actually the Golden Guns pack is for Single Player, not Multiplayer and its just two weapons. Cattleman Revolver and Repeater Carbine

DLC should be released well after the official game release, otherwise it should just be included in the game. Take for example EA, they're becoming the worse for releasing DLC the same week as the official game launch. Don't like to see this becoming a trend but it seems to be just that now.

i saw this yesterday i was hoping you were gonna find this and write about it. its good timing for me as i am just finishing the game up and doing the zombie levels now. good excuse to go back to the regular game.

what does the war horse do? is it just strong and fast?

I think that the stuff from rdr should be free when they release it, it's been a year. That seems like it would still have been a good deal to pre-order. You got it a year before anyone else, but of course even though it's incredibly late we'll have to pay for. Probably be $2 a piece too. If not more.

As for future games, I'd say if you want it without pre-order than they should make it available 1 month after release at a small price, .50-$1, or wait 6 months and give it out for free.

Still seems there would be incentive to pre-order for those who tend to and for those who don't usually pre-order, I doubt they will change their mind just because it takes longer for the pre-order to become dlc.

I just hate trophy add ons. If i don't buy the add on I can't get 100%, it'd be nice if the add ons had a separate group or yanno trophies are part of the add on instead of having the trophies listed even tho you never bought the add on. Example I have is the SW:Force Unleashed

see they do that so that you will be bothered by the not having it at 100% so you will then buy the dlc. they are messing with your head by doing that and making you want to see that 100%. then you spend the money on it.

you could plat red dead and would only be at like 50%.

Yeah, luckily for me I'm done with being a trophy whore. I've just gotten my 3 month milestone for the TWA(Trophy Whores Anonymous) so I'm staying strong! 🙂

I think preorder DLC should take oh say 2-3 months to come out. That's enough time for the preorderers to gloat but not too long so the game becomes irrelevant.

While we're on the topic, regular DLC needs to stop coming out near the sequel. I just beat Mass Effect 2 and ME 3 is coming really really soon so as much as I'd like to play Arrival, I just can't see spending the money. Maybe they should just make it free to get people re-interested in the series so they buy the sequel or threequel.

Same thing here, didn't really want to bother with Arrival when it's so close to ME3 and it isn't essential. I may cave if I play another run through though.

I've seen a lot of PS3 copies here in Canberra with this DLC included, (Rockstar DLC Capital of the world?) so perhaps they had to finish with the boxed edition DLC, before making the DLC downloadable for all?

thats one perk about living in AU, EB normally gets ALL the preorder goodies!
LBP2 for example, instead of having the R&C, and other costumes scattered at different retailers EB got them all!
