EA Reveals NBA: On Fire Edition, New NBA Simulator

NBA Jam is super fun. We want another one.

Well, we'll have to wait and see but if you missed the first title, there's a better edition heading to the digital realm: EA Sports will issue a revamped effort, NBA Jam: On Fire Edition , for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live services.

It'll release in October and feature better AI (apparently adapted from the Fight Night series), JAM Arena (new, dynamic online competition), Road Trip (competitive online campaign), Tag Mode and Team Fire, online roster updates, more superstars and legendary players, and JAM challenges. Said Trey Smith, NBA Jam: On Fire Edition Line Producer:

"EA SPORTS continues to support this iconic franchise through a new digital download and we're taking everything fans loved about the original and adding a host of new features. We've listened to all of the feedback from our fans and we are driven to deliver the very best NBA JAM experience to date."

Also, EA Sports president Peter Moore announced that a new NBA simulation title is currently in development at Tiburon Studios. They had to scrap NBA Elite 11 last year but they're giving it another go, and this new sim game will be ready in 2012. By the way, NBA Jam was a full Blu-Ray release for $50, but this downloadable title probably won't run more than $20. …damn good deal.

The NBA Jam series has always been an absolute blast to play, and I don't like the sport of basketball at all. But I'll gladly play a new one when it comes out.

NBA Live 10 was a good game they should kept trying to improve the overall gameplay not try to reinvent the wheel. Not sure I'm going to get an NBA game next year due to the fact the league is also facing a lockout. And the last sport game I brought during its league lockout was NHL 2k5 and I had to stop playing it because I was just replaying the 2004 season with the 2005 Detroit Red Wings.

Interesting, might actually be worth a purchase if it has more than the disc release. Depend on price for me though as I'm not big on sports games. I like the kooky ones the best though, like NBA Jam.

I did pass on the original but no way I can say no to this. I look forward to the release.
