If you're not familiar with the F.E.A.R. series, now might be the time to get interested.

The horror FPS has provided gamers with solid, freaky storylines and intense combat situations, and it appears the third installment will take everything to a new level. This new story trailer will get your blood pumping; it's a shooter, yes, but it lives and dies with the plot. Multiplayer is definitely not the focus and these days, character and story-driven shooters are a rarity.

Boasting the talents of terror guru John Carpenter, we fully expect F.E.A.R. 3 to be worth playing. It suffered a delay earlier this year but now it's on track for May 24, so get ready for some of the most fearful interactive encounters ever.

By the way, is anyone else reminded of Sephiroth and/or "Advent Children" whenever that dude says something about "mother?"

This title has been flying under my radar for quite awhile, as a matter of fact, since it was announced. John Carpenter is the man though, I love The Thing. I did enjoy the first FEAR quite a bit, but 2? You tell me, was it fun?

i made the mistake of renting fear on the ps3. the framerate bounced around so much i wanted to puke, and it looked like someone smeared vasiline accross my screen. terrible stuff.

unless i hear of massive improvements i'm going to have to pass even though i am a fan of horror.

All I can say is, it seems to be a good time to be a horror fan, because they seem to be crawling out of the wood work.

This looks much better than FEAR 2. I loved FEAR but didn't LOVE FEAR 2. FEAR was creepy and had some good Grudge reminding moments. However FEAR 2 didn't scare me at all. The gun play in FEAR and FEAR 2 were fantastic. I remember getting FEAR to run on my PC and doing the FPS test over and over to see how good my video card performed. I am a big fan and will pick up FEAR 3 but it won't be a D1P for me. I must admit I am intrigued and the game looks fantastic after seeing that trailer. I wish them well in such a tough PS3 release year.

Interesting. I look forward to the review. Wish other developers would put in a similar effort attempt towards story driven FPSs… "story driven FPS's"… sounds like an oxymoron

It was great until the cliche evil laugh at the end. That made it a bit corny.

Regardless, I'll try it and FEAR 2 out. I played FEAR 1, but it was a terrible port, although it had some good moments.

PASS!
i can see this being a step back from F.E.A.R 2 god knows how thats even possible!
i wish monolith would take back the series, and bring it back to the original!
F.E.A.R is still one of my favorite new IPs, 2 was such a disappointment it almost gave RE5 a run for its money!
