Role-playing fans have a big year ahead of them, and perhaps tops on their lists is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim .

More information has come to light, and the first new detail is a fresh feature called Dragon Shouts. It's a new magic: whenever you slay a dragon, you will receive its soul, which will then let you decipher runes scattered across the landscape. These will grant you the aforementioned Dragon Shouts; there are spells like teleport and force push. Additionally, Enchantment will return to the series- in Oblivion , you'd receive this ability once you entered the Mages Guild, and Enchantment lets you infuse any weapon or accessory with any spell effect you have learned. Lastly, we've learned more about the "Radiant Storytelling System," which appears to be a dynamic feature. Basically, everything you do will have an impact on the game and the Radiant AI will alter the story to suit your style of play. The idea is that every play-through will be slightly different depending on the person playing, and that's a pretty cool concept.

Skyrim is just one of those games that will require a great deal of time, but don't let that dissuade you. Heck, it's a huge plus for RPG lovers.

Time in oblivion was never an issue for me. 3 different characters 2 with each over 200 hours of gameplay. I didn't mind it at all. In fact I loved every min. Of it. So much to do and explore kept the game at a great pace, when questing.

I hope that you can combat while on horseback, though in skyrim. Not sure if that's been addressed but bailing off my horse every 20-30 sec to fight, was rough…

Either way all that stands between me and my many hours in Skyrim is, the release date and of course Uncharted 3!

This is some uber awesome news if I ever heard any. Game is sounding awesome. One thing I loved about Morrowind was that you could kill anyone, if they were important to the story it would warn you, but you could still do it.

I'm not a fan of games in this style but refuse to let you kill people. Hoping to kill lots of people in skyrim.

True, but no monster ever fights back the same as those high elf mages in their lofty towers. They can be a pain to take down.

In all honesty, after beating a game like this, I want to go back and play again, but not worry about the story. I just want to be the biggest, strongest, baddest, sword swinging, spell singing, blood splashing, dude around.

I want to make money, fill my houses with weird random stuff I find and collect every weapon I can get my hands on.

In morrowind my house is got so full of stuff that it started generating bags to put my stuff in, because all my containers were full and so was the house. It's like pokemon, only instead of monsters, I have to collect every weapon and rare item.

"The idea is that every play-through will be slightly different depending on the person playing" – I've heard this *so* many times before – let's hope it's actually true this time!

Theirs lots of games that offer this too. It all is dependent on how you play. Their is a reaction from the ai for every action. But it's all still limited. Their isn't unlimited situations, they still must follow a script. So don't look to deep into it and you'll see that when you do something one way, do it again differently and you'll probably see a different outcome. Even if it isn't as drastic as you'd like to think. It's all about perception.

That's a good reply, Bigrailer. It is indeed about perception.

However, even Packman offered "different playthroughs" if you moved your yellow guy different every time you played it (and usually, at some point, you did). I still don't think it's fair to say that Pacman offered a different playthrough every time. I expect more, that is true, but I think that also is called for when this is used as a sales argument for the product.
