You've probably seen the movie trailer, but you likely didn't know about the game…

"Battle: Los Angeles" launches in theaters on March 11 and today, Konami and Saber Interactive have announced a first-person shooter to go along with the film; it'll be available on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Windows PC via Steam. Players will assume the role of Corporal Lee Imlay and team up with other characters from the film in an effort to defend LA from "unknown forces." Said Careen Yapp, Vice President of Acquisitions and Franchise Development for Konami Digital Entertainment:

"Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. jumped at the opportunity to team up with Columbia Pictures and publish the Battle: Los Angeles video game. We love the movie and it was a great experience working with Saber – there were some great ideas about how to expand the story into a game. It's a great chance for gamers and moviegoers to play out the world of the film."

Powered by the Saber 3D Engine, Battle: Los Angeles is described as a "high-end fast and frantic first-person shooter" that offers an intense single player campaign. The campaign will mirror the feature film and we'll be able to snag all sorts of different weapons, including the assault rifle, sniper rifle and rocket launcher. Saber is also tossing in destructible environments by utilizing the Havok Destruction Module: "destroy scaffolding structures, vehicles and overpasses to eliminate enemy forces."

We'll even get bonus unlockable content, trophy support and 5.1 surround sound. It isn't the first time a moderately sized FPS has arrived in digital form; you might remember Battlefield 1943 . That one was multiplayer-oriented, though; we imagine Battle: Los Angeles will be closer to Blacklight: Tango Down …we just hope Saber's effort is a little better.

Hmmm, I think this is a good idea for all these Movie-to-game projects. We all know that those games are usually lackluster, so making them digital (and cheaper) may be the best way to sell them.

I wonder how much this game will be…?

Heh… Resistance 3 leaked because of this film. One of the reasons that I'm mildly interested in seeing it. It might be a good game, but it would do well for Konami to release it alongside the film. That comes out in a week, and if you're announcing a project one week before release, I'm thinking that it's already a lost cause. But who knows, they could strike lucky.
Peace.

I think I will take a pass. 1) "shootered" out personally 2) film games tend to make my soul die a little 3) completely uninterested in the source material.

Lol @ reason # 2.

Oh coverton…your logic remains flawless.

I find that to be a legitimate reason for not buying the game King James, seeing as how all game-to-movie adaptations have sucked big time so far. Unless you can actually come up with an argument to counter what he's saying.

I'm kind of interested in the movie. Hopefully it's a good movie. Not sure about the game, might try it out but not expecting anything amazing.

I'm with coverton341 a bit here. I think after KZ3 and other shooters, I'm a little shootered out too.

Next few months, aside from KZ3, I'll probably be trying out a few other games I never got around to yet.

Only exception to this is Fallout 3… yes, I know… I haven't really tried it yet. But I DO own it! I plan to play it sometime this quarter or next.

you probably already know this but fallout 3 does have a third person view. i absolutely loved fallout 3. the apocalyptic atmosphere and charcters were really
well pulled off. it was my first western rpg, and at first i wasn't too impressed. eventually though the charcters and world won me over, and i put over 100 hours into it. there is a ton of stuff to do in the game.

i hope you got the goty edition becuase the dlc content was great. loved mothership zeta.

I didn't see anything about multiplayer in the article it makes me wonder why they would bother because usually FPS single player campaign AI is apples and oranges compared to the difficulty of online play. Hope this isn't just a movie cash-in cuz I'm actually interested in the flick.

Same, I'm interested in the movie but skeptical about the game. Although i will look around to see what goes on with it when they release information.

Wow, that description of the game is exactly the same as every other FPS's. I mean come on, what shooter doesn't let you have assault rifles, sniper rifles, and rocket launchers these days?

I also like all those buzz words thrown in there. "INTENSE. FRANTIC. HIGH-END. FAST." I wonder what market they're trying to appeal to? *sarcasm*
