For now, we'll just be all optimistic and assume this news will soon apply to North America.

According to Andriasang , Sony has revealed a couple new peripherals for the PlayStation 3 today. The first is a new color for the Dual Shock 3; it's the Candy Blue controller, and it'll hold the standard retail price tag for a DS3. The other accessory is the Dual Shock 3 Charging Stand, which can charge two DS3 or Sixaxis controllers; the kit includes the stand, an AC adapter, power cord, and two charging attachments. This will go for ¥2,480 in Japan, which is approximately $30. For my part, I figure that even if you never play with another person, you still need two controllers; one to charge while the other is in use. This way, you can just keep switching off and you never have to wait (provided you remember to have one always plugged into the system). A charge stand is a great option for anybody with two or more controllers. And as for Candy Blue, that's a cool color…even if it'd look weird next to my silver and black ones.

We'll let you know if Sony announces both new peripherals for the US. I don't see why we'd have to go without this time.

Candy blue controller eh?

Wonder whether that is a precursor to new colored system units?

We could do with some new colored system units in NA. We have white, blue, red, silver and the default black color for controllers, so when will we see all these colors in the systems themselves I wonder? Come on Sony, stop teasing us and give us the colored plastic we desire!

I think its useful to have different colored control pads at home. Especially if many people use the PS3.

Like at my home, no one is allowed to use my control pad without my permission(its a custom pad). The fact that the controller is different reduces any chances that someone else might pick it up by mistake.

So I think colored controllers are actually a good idea. Family members can buy a controller of a specific color and only that person will use it and wear it out.

As opposed to certain colored consoles, I'd rather see game themed ones with graphic art on it corresponding to the game itself.

I bought a silver months ago to match the trim color on my PS3.

Already have 4 controllers…but we'll see…would like to see the DS3 drop in price rather than another price drop for the ps3… a $40 ds3 would be sweet.

I don't see a point of having different colored controllers. Just stick with black or silver. I guess its for japaneese girls so that the controller matches her hair color lol

I usually charge my DS3 controllers by plugging them into my computer via the usb cable.

i have 4 controllers and always keep 1 charged or connected. i got 2 white and 2 black. might have to get some new ones soon.

anyway, i already beaten killzone 3 on elite. id say just go for elite mode. the game is so much easier than kz2 elite mode. its so much easier to get platinum in this game. the only hard parts was when i was using vehicles because you take way too much damage on them. like the snow mobile, they even get you before you see them. key is not to spam missiles. make sure they're locked on for a bit so that they wont miss. other on rails vehicle sequences just keep spamming missles and everything, especially at the battle cruiser stage. i just spammed missles and it destroyed everything in elite.

cool, thanks johnld. Yeah, a few of those on rails segments were pretty unforgiving even on regular.
i may give elite a go.

This one looks cool beans!

I only have 2 controllers at the moment, my regular black DualShock, plus a custom candy apple red metallic H.K.S. racing controller that's shaped just like my DualShock, but also has pressurized steering wheel & brake pedals included.

well i am up to 1 sixaxis, 3 dualshocks, 1 move, 1 navigation and a sharp shooter. all that between 2 ps3's. i might pick up a forest green ds3 that came out but this blue looks kind of cool. i would have to see it in person though. i do love the way a new controller feels though.

Why would you assume any neat colors from Japan would come to NA? At any rate I love my tricked out Ironman Red job.

oh boy a new color! -.-

When is Sony going to update/improve their controller already! Its been the same design since the 90's. Its time to move on! Not everyone has baby hands! Dx

Because it's by far the most ergonomic and comfortable controller I've ever held, not too mention everything is within quick reach of any finger on any hand. It's really too perfect to upgrade IMO, don't fix what aint broken.

You sir must have never held a 360 controller….

JMO_INDY

Yes sir I actually own a 360, but the fact is it's bulky and actually redundant to have a battery pack for 2 AAs (more money), then sell a charging pack for a nother $30 and not too mention only 4 at one time and outdated Infrared sensors, very poor excuse for a controller.

They should really change the color or tone of the buttons too, if they want defferent color variation to apeal to people more so.
I think i have the same charging stand that's discribed here, it's black with a Playstion logo on the top center with two blue lights that indicates the status of the controllers. Its a pretty good charging station, i think its been avaliable for almost 3 months now in North America unless this is a defferent model.
I perfer white controllers, their alot easir to find amongst the other black electronics in the when its dark.

I agree I want to see something like the PSP buttons look, with a black design of the actual logos but with the same color scheme as the controller same with the analog sticks and R and L buttons.

On sony.com they have bundles with a game and a controller for $60 like LBP with a black one, GOW collection with the red controller, and Ratchet and Clank with a Blue one. Pretty good deals, and they have a PInk DS3 there as well all for North America. Just saying.

I like that blue, I like the other blue that you can already purchase too. They should keep the colors rolling.

I'm not too worried about the color of my ps3, black is great, matches all my other electronics.

hey ben how come you havent reported on lg attacking the ps3 and how europe is getting their shipments held in a warehouse?

TheHighlander
TheHighlander

How come no one is asking why LG waited for 5 years to file? Or why they are suing anyway since they automatically enter into and grant cross licensing deals with all BDA members for patented BluRay technologies – by virtue of LG being a member of the BDA along with Sony?

Perhaps the reason for the non-reportage is that it's a tit-for-tat dispute about cell phone technology that LG is attempting to resolve by upping the ante against Sony? Could it be that it's a temporary order in Europe and Sony are appealing (and will likely win) to get the 'ban' lifted'?

Or could it be that this dispute between LG and Sony will ultimately be resolved outside of the court room behind closed doors and we'll never here what transpired?

I love the blue controller, I'd definitely buy it when it comes. I always have a controller on charge and always need to switch, I was hoping for that "twistdock" from vogel's. whatever happened to that?

I do like that color of the controller, but I cant find a reason to spend more money on another controller when I have two.

The stand on the other hand, is something I think I need. I use both of the two usb ports on my ps3 now. One for my keyboard and the other for the new headset I just bought, so the only time I can really charge it is when I'm not playing a game. I might just buy one soon.
