If you're a Dead Space 2 fan – and really, who isn't? – you'll probably be interested in the upcoming downloadable content.
In the Severed DLC expansion, Gabriel and Lexine from Dead Space: Extraction will make their DS2 debut; they will lead the way through a freakish new piece of storyline in the pack known as "Severed." It's a two-chapter plot elaboration that also features a special guest from the first Dead Space ; the Twitcher. The pack will be available for $6.99 on the PlayStation Network or 560 Microsoft Points on the Xbox Live service; it's March 1 for the latter and the following day for the former. This is just one of those games that has to be experienced , that demands your undivided attention. Although it doesn't represent a new horizon for the action/survival/horror blending (the first title did that), it builds on a solid foundation and provides the player with yet another intense, chilling ride. And we always love to see any DLC that expands upon the single-player element of a game.
If you haven't played DS2 yet, you're missing out.

Nope, ain't buying it. Dead Space 2 is good but not good enough to spend more money on it. I went nuts with the DLC packs for the first game. Won't be making that mistake again.
but those dlc packs were just armor and weapons, this might be worth it, we will have to wait and see
yea….maybe you're right. If you get it, let me know how it is, eh? 🙂
glad to know i wasnt the only one suckered into getting reskinned dlc lol
You guys were suckered into buying them? I wasnt I read the description lol.
It'll prolly have to wait for me… Going insane over Killzone 3 for a while

Same here!
Same here, and I really don't like parallel story lines. Crysis Warhead comes to mind. DS is Isaac Clark and that's it. I don't really care about any other story lines. It will really have to be a release day decision. Knowing there is no Isaac really bums me out. The price is not bad for 2 more chapters, I hope they are long chapters.
I might be tempted to purchase this if there was a few new maps and more necromorphs added to the multiplayer, needs a new mode or two as well 🙁
Can only play those 5 maps for so long.
I haven't even touched the multiplayer and I suspect I won't anytime soon since Killzone 3 is out now.
I agree. They are neat maps, and a neat idea, but you don't get enough points for the actual mission objectives. So most people just end up killing each other instead of going for the objective. It's better for their points and their K/D ratio.
Definitely need some new modes. Don't think I'll ever go back to that now that KZ3 is in hand.
I can't even get a good connection with EA's Servers to play more than a match or two since it came out, I'm jealous of you guys!
I've opened ports, tried DMZing the PS3…no luck. Hell, I even participated in the closed multiplayer-beta, and other people had the same problems. I told the team, they acknowledged it, but no fix yet. I would rather have a patch for the game than buy more content.
Hey I'm just glad this DLC takes things in a new direction and isn't something that was simply held back (as we know Clarke's story is the main one). Nice price too, but I think I have too many games to play. I'm only on like Chapter 5 in DS2 and fully agree with the 9's.
I have to play Dead Space 2 before even thinking about DLC…Is it me or is this whole DLC thing kinda kinda outta hand?
I'm still on chapter 9 on the first game. Nice price point though. Wish other dev's DLC content was around that price.
Was it just me or does it seem like Dead Space 2 just flew by? I'm on chapter 10 and it feels like I haven't really even played that much.
The first time I played the game it took me almost an hour per chapter…beat it in 14 hours cause I walked so freakin' slow cause I was seriously always wondering what was about to happen.
Zealot and HardCore run throughs lasted 8 1/2 hours each.
Then running through on casual with the hand cannon took 3 hours 15 minutes.
I think the game is paced really well though. The seamless chapters add a nice feel to the game.
Yeah, I beat DS2 in 12 hours because I was being very careful. I can honestly say I adore both DS1 and DS2 the same. The only thing I liked more about DS1 is that it introduced me to this great universe. Otherwise I loved both the game equally.
my first play through took me 10 hours, then my Hardcore and Zealot play through took me only a little over 7 hours and my casual play through with the hand cannon took me only 3 hours. DS2 does kinda feel short after awhile, but its just so much fun. DS1 and DS2 are both just so awesome!
Gonna buy it. Big fan of Dead Space 2, like it better than the 1st. Its long enough as well.
How about the animated movies? They worth seeing?
Thumbs up or down will do.
I actually hated Down Fall and Aftermath. I thought they were horrible, HORRIBLE compared the story telling in the games. I am very sorry I saw both of them. However, I hear the book Martyr is very good. I will pick that up after I am done reading Star Wars Backlash.
I don't know, I rather liked Downfall and Aftermath. Downfall doesn't have much of a story, but boy is it bloody and action-packed. Plus it kinda introduces you to some of the characters of the first game.
Aftermath I didn't like as much, but it was still good. Nowhere near as much Necromorph action, but it revealed some interesting things about the Marker. The worst thing about the movie though is the CGI; its like PS1 graphics, its just absolutely terrible IMO.
As for Martyr, CrusaderForever is right, it is extremely good. Probably the best video game-based novel I've ever read except for some of the Mass Effect books tbh. It has a ton of interesting things about the Black Marker, Altman, and Unitology in it, and the twist at the end is just plain crazy.
So if I were you, I'd read the book instead of watching the movies (the book is definitely better), but if you're not interested in the book then you should see the movies. They're a pretty good watch, and while they're not perfect, they have some interesting little bits of story and some good action.
Thanks guys. I don't do mutch reeding but 'Martyr' does seem to have mosty positive reviews so I'll keep it in mind.
Only if you're into Saturday morning cartoons. I rented the first Dead Space animated movie thinking it was an anime. Boy was I wrong. It had a worse frame rate than an anime and the drawings looked like a Power Rangers only with blood and gore.
its definately worth the 60. as far as buying DLC for campaign based, games, those can be very limited in there longevity. If you get muliplayer expansions, those you can really get a lot out of. Those are the only expansions i really choose to delve into. (DS2 severed might be worth it though since im diggin the narrative) really gotta b into science fiction though. This game is totally a mix between doom, the thing and aliens imo
nice to see some games getting SP extensions instead if DLC being strictly MP related.
