Anarchy Reigns: Story, Character Info

Platinum Games has produced some top-quality titles this generation, which is why we're psyched for their next project, Anarchy Reigns .

Besides getting some early videos – like this character trailer featuring Sasha – we didn't really have a whole lot of gameplay details until now. Thanks to Famitsu and Andriasang , we now have information pertaining to the plot and Story Mode. Set in the future, the world is in a state of chaos and nations battle for valuable resources; terrorism is high and peace is a long-lost dream. Viruses are spreading and mankind only managed to survive "through the use of nano machines and the development of cybernetic organisms." You will start in the city of Altanbra and that city will dynamically change over time; "bridges will collapse, trailers will come crashing through, and there will even be natural disasters."

In the Story Mode, you will control the main character, Jack, who you might remember from the Wii game, MadWorld . You'll have to clear various missions around Altanbra; you'll utilize Jack's double-bladed chainsaw, which sounds just plain nasty. Jack is 75% Cyborg and is part of an organization called Chasers, who handle what the police can't deal with. Other characters include Big Bull, Zero and Sasha, all of whom have separate back stories and their own unique "Killer Weapons." In the Story Mode, those characters serve as Jack's rivals and you can read up on them through the link above.

At first, we were a little worried about the "online action game" description, as it seemed Anarchy Reigns wouldn't boast a single-player campaign. But that obviously isn't true, so good news for those who still enjoy playing by themselves. 'cough' Me. 'cough'

Ok wait….Jack from Madworld is the main character in this!? Sweet! Anything I've played from Platinum so far has been a blast! Bayonetta(on the 360) and Vanquish have been extremely fun to play. Im excited about this already!

It's good to see that i'm not the only one who enjoys & appreciates a good multiplayer free, single player experience once in a while. 😉

Platinum has already surprised me with Bayonetta (which at first glance, i honestly thought would turn out to be shite). Here's hoping they can birth something similar here with this one.

Give us a combo move set as richly varied as Bayonetta's and bosses bigger than the T.V screen & i'll be wanting this like a downtrodden villager wants a Geishas warm rice ball.

Haven't really heard much about this game, watched that video, not sure what to think, haven't played this wii game you speak of, so doesn't really help me there.

Platinum who?

Please forgive me, but horror is not my thing and bayonetta held no interest from me what so ever. Vanquish, well I made plenty of comments about it's silver/gray butt-sliding action.

Thumb me down all you like, platinum has just never made a game in my genre interest.

You mentioned okami, I think that was before my gaming life began and know absolutely nothing about it.

Hmmm, I was luke warm at best, and the graphics look a step down. But that could be because it isn't done or because it has to be that way to stay fast over the internet. I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. The action is a bit more up my alley than Vanquish. Again though, Jack was black and white, what's he gonna look like in color?

why does this remind me of mad world?
pass, never really enjoyed either of PGs games, in fact the most overrated games in the industry!

The art design looks pretty poor. The graphics aren't looking very nice either. But it's Platinum Games, they've had a good track record so far.
