When you watch the video below, are you saying, "yeah, I can do that," or, "uh…how's he going that fast?"
Catherine is horrific, erotic, and challenging. The storyline is the primary focal point but of course, as this is an interactive piece of entertainment, the gameplay must be prominent as well. In Atlus' ambitious project, we will tackle "climbing puzzles" like the one you see here. Can you handle it?
Personally, I'm hoping they bring this one to the US; I just gotta try it. However, gameplay footage like this makes me leery; I'm not bad at puzzles but when I have to do them quickly and you toss some platforming into the mix, I start to get a little frustrated. But what do you think of this? Would you pick up Catherine if it released in North America or Europe?

The Demo blew me away. Utterly fantastic and the puzzle gameplay is an absolute BLAST.
A major title to keep an eye on that WILL come to us in Europe too.
This game is proof the Japanese industry never stopped ruling.
except it did. crapcom, $E are all proof of that.
A few gems can't make up for the assload of crap
That video was like watching Ninja Warrior (the original Japanese one), loved it. Hope this game makes it to Europe, that looked like a lot of fun.
Played the demo, and the puzzle was very basic, I would get it just for the history.
That noise it makes would piss me off real quick, but I think if I understood how the blocks moved it wouldn't be so hard.
the one that happens when he climbs? What the hell is up with that? Its gotta go.

Yep, agree there. That woman's voice saying the same thing over and over again everytime he went up a step, that just really annoyed me.
I dunno about this title. With other fantastic titles coming out this year, I don't know if I'll have time or the money to try this out.
Beware of Manbearpig!!
That's not even one of the more challenging puzzles. I played the demo and he's moving about average speed. There are puzzles where the blocks freeze and crumble underneath you, leaving very little to trial and error.
If they bring this game to the U.S. I'd add it to my collection.
Play the JP demo, it was pretty fun. Wish i only understood the game more as i can't read japanese 🙁 This game is much more fun then just watching it on youtube though.
That was odd. Seriously, I couldn't work out heads from tails in that video, but I like it. Something refreshingly different. If it's brought over, I'll most definitely be picking it up.
Peace.
I'm playing Catherine right now. You got alot more puzzles to solve in order to wake up alive lol. Can't wait to finish it.
I want it. Period.
i dont see why japanese developers dont just add english subtitles to there games that they decide not to localize here in the us and and eu and we can just import it if they think its not going to sell well here add english subtitles and we can still import the game if we really want it i mean the ps3 is region free youd think thats what theyd do i dont get why these companies dont do obvious simple things
Agreed. Stingy bastards.
Buy the Asian (Hong Kong) versions of PS3 games then not the Japanese versions. The Asian versions minimally come with English manuals, sometimes subs.
That looks kinda fun in a weird sorta way. I'd get it if it came here, but it doesn't look like a full price title. I suck at puzzles but some proper booby motivation and that neat music should do the trick.
(Sigh) That video was so long and tedious. And so repetitive! It looks cool, but does it have to be so long? And does it have to have that annoying soundbite everytime you go up a level?
I was interested in this game, especially exploring a relationship between 2 characters and making a horror game around it. But this puzzle stage has kinda put me off this game a little.
I haven't played the demo, but many who have say it's great, so I may wait and see if there's an English audio or subtitled version released, wait for a review and make a decision then. So, sorry guys and gals, but not sold on Catherine just yet. 🙂

It was really just an experiment for them to get used to developing on next gen platforms so you shouldn't expect a huge production out of it anyway.
This looks great!
Nah. Not my thing. It appears to be well executed though.

About 6 hours into this game myself, on Normal, and I can total say those puzzles can be a beast. It's fun to figure them out, but man you will see the game over screen tons. I love the game by the way, hope it gets localized for everyone to play.
Does this mean you are fluent in Japanese? If so, cool!!
I'm not fluent in Japanese, but I know some basics to help me get through the game and get a basic understanding of the story. I wont mention any spoilers for the sake of not mentioning them, but I love the game a lot. I'm on the eve of the 6th night in the game. Boss and level are quite a pain.
any word on this releasing outside JP?
looks really weird this, but thats exactly why im interested in it.
so rare you get to play a game thats different these days!
I know, eh!
Finally, a game that isn't trying to tap into the CoD crowd!!
I'm dying to play this game. Please bring it here Atlus! I love these wacky, fun, challenging, and interesting Japanese games. Like seriously, 90% of my collection is Japanese games. So yeah I love companies like Atlus and NIS who bring (most of) their Japanese games here, even sometimes bringing other smaller Japanese publishers' games here too. I'm pretty confident Atlus will include us with this game; they understand their games are more niche in the U.S. and I like to think they're proud of that, proud that they can deliver quality Japanese games to a minority that would otherwise be left out. But it is true that this one may be a bit more questionable because of the sexual themes. The Japanese go for it but it may not be as acceptable here in the states *sigh*. So as long as that doesn't get in the way (which I can't guess the odds of that for you) I think this one will make it here, it is getting a decent amount of hype in the U.S. after all. And I know I at least will be really happy when it does release here at last.

i would get it day 1, if it came here!
i like the story and the feeling, but not particularly passionate about the game play side of the thing, climbing and platforming is not my focus, i want the feel of the game, but at the same time dont want to play the gameplay, thats wut i am looking at it, no matter how absurd it sounds
