Guerrilla isn't one of those developers that takes a vacation the instant their game is out the door.

Changes and improvements will be coming "shortly after" the title releases on February 22, and they're all listed over at the game's official site . Furthermore, they've outlined the updates that are coming, and that includes "support for color-blind players" and the toning down of "overly enthusiastic death screams." Here's just a sampling of all the fixes that are headed our way:

That's just a taste; these guys clearly want to produce the single most stable and entertaining shooter experience possible. Don't forget that Guerrilla also clarified the Killzone 2 server issue; they won't be ditching those multiplayer servers just because the new title is here. In general, I don't think we can cast too many aspersions on the way this studio does business.

"# Support for color-blind players"

NICE! I have a friend who is colorblind. He will be pleased to hear this.

Is driving an issue for him?

Never thought to ask. ha I know he was pissed he couldn't hack in Bioshock though as red and greens look the same. I would imagine driving would be tough.

driving is set up to be not hard. just cause you cant see the color you see where the light is placed. the placement of the lights is always the same other than if you go to wisconson as far as i know. there they have lights sideways but the placement is always the same.

i knew a guy that was colorblind and i asked him those things. kind of funny but for 7 years he thought his kitchen blinds were black, they were in fact a dark green. he saw black though

They never should have reviewed KZ3.
Those reviews were based on the beta.

Remember Gamespot not wanting to review KZ2 until it's released to experience the online first?

Well this time they review it very early.

This is a pretty good reconfiguration that their working on. The medic was really overwhelmed, more people were dying than could be revived. And you had to be within arms reach of the person revive them.

Hey and why are they updating it when the games not even on shelves yet?? Weird, oh well I guess

Cuz the beta did its job and the players have spoken. And, unlike with certain companies that shall go unnamed, Guerrilla listened.

Okay, I can get that but isn't the purpose of a Beta to work out the bugs before the game actually launches?

Don't get me wrong, I'll be getting KZ3 when it launches, I love the series and I like that they acknowledge that there is a problem and are fixing it, but to hear that a company has already prepared some updates for an "A" grade game before it even hits the shelves? Really?

I know that these updates are to improve the gameplay. Look at what they've done for games like MAG and Socom..But isn't anyone else getting tired of buying their new game, putting it into their console and then waiting while they download a new update before they can play it?

But it's to be expected I guess…I had to do the same thing with my PS3 when I bought it…why should the games be any different?

To hit the release date I think they will have already had to have most of the discs pressed and shipped out. But that didn't stop GG from continuing work. A benefit to patches and updates is that the final disc isn't the final word on the product.

I hear you but maybe these fixes are taking to long in QA. The discs have already been burned and shipped and are probably at all the stores now. It's hard to say but it's great to see them support their product with pride. Their a dev that knows 1 slip up or bad choice can make their fans move on or forget about them. Like it or not GG/Killzone had incredible competition in CoD and MoH. The game is going rock!

How is having an update on release day a bad thing. They can't test, fix everything, print, and ship world wide over night. I know we have some awesome studio's but I don't think any of them have Santa Clause working for them.

How many times have we gotten a game on release date that was practically broken and had to wait a few weeks for an update just so we could play it. I'll take release day update any day. I'd rather wait a few minutes for a great experience than get in quick only to be disappointed.

Isn't the beta supposed to help avoid this kind of thing? I mean doesn't it strike you as odd that fps, the most basic form of gaming on the market today, are the ones that need the most patching? DLC and patches being announced before the game hits shelves … what an odd generation we're in.

Jawknee
Jawknee

Well games are a lot more complicated now than they were last gen. Also with heavier online gaming, they need to work harder to ensure the experience is as best as it can be. Also with the ability to patch games the way they do this gen, it might just seem like we have lots and lots of updates. Who knows how many we would have got last gen if updating a game after the fact was possible.

kraygen

Plus I think it's asking a lot of any dev to foresee everything in an online multiplayer. They may try their hardest, but their will usually be some player who will try something no dev or tester thought of.

My thoughts exactly, Alien.
I find it kind of amusing that when Killzone release a mile-long patch everyone cheers, while if a multiplat had done the same everyone would shout "booooh, booh, damn shitty game, can't they do ANYTHING right?". ūüėÄ

I think it has more to do with the online multiplayer rather than the genre.

You'll note you don't see any such news about updates or fixes or patches for something like God of War III or Vanquish.

Jawknee

Oh please Beamboom. This is one patch versus the dozens and dozens COD games usually require because the game is completely broken upon release. You know there is a difference.

This is something I love to see, a company who is willing to accept that there are issues and is willing to fix them. So many devs seem to be so lazy these days. They either ignore the problems their game has after release or they acknowledge them, but don't fix them anyway.

I have contacted several devs about issues in their games only to be told they know about the problem, but aren't going to do anything about it. Way to have pride in your game.

I say good work to GG and keep it up, this is how it should be done.

yea i believe so, with most games youll get the update screen when the game starts but you can skip it with the circle button, and if you try to go online itll say u need the update but you will be able to play throiugh the single player no problem….usually

BETA did it's job. You did hear there was a BETA, right? Besides, I thought you weren't going to get it because it was just another FPS to you despite the hype and apparent awesomeness? Now you'll get it at a price drop?

I don't follow.

What are you talking about? They are making the game better. Why do you even game? You WANT a broken game that doesn't work? I don't understand why anyone is mad that they are being proactive to fix issues that have come up during a beta stage? Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Get with the program, dude. Not THIS post in it's entirety. The posts I was referring to in the other threads.

And now you're highlighting "Think"? You're just grasping at straws now.

I don't buy that "I have a life excuse". You didn't respond to my posts in their entirety to begin with, and made multiple posts since I posted which clearly indicates "time" was not a factor. You were able to post other places, no?

Additionally, it's incredibly juvenile to make a case against someone in terms of "you have a life". I'm quite certain most of us here have lives, and good ones. I for one have a couple degrees, I volunteer, I have a great career in counseling youth and alleviating homelessness, I own a house, I am married, I own a car, I have great relationships with my family and friends, and couldn't be more secure and happy with my life.

The difference is, my reading comprehension is a fair bit better, so responding like this takes me all of 1 or 2 minutes.

You are still avoiding my larger posts on other threads. Did I own you too badly?

they are software patches that's installed on your hardware. it's good gg is fixing some problems, but this should've got ironed out in the beta, and made it on the disc.

How could they iron it out in the beta and put in on disc in time!? No way in hell, the beta ended on 2/15 and the game releases 2/22….a freakin week to fix and then produce the disc and ship! Get out of here, this is a good thing…they could have left the game the way it was and not lifted a damn finger…but they didnt. WTF!

Meh, I can appreciate the update for the color blind people. I can understand some of the fixes. Yet others seem like people just complained too much.

I didn't mind the collision with mortally wounded teammates. I mean it made it seem realistic to me. I had no problems going around or just jumping over them if they're in a tight space.

More stamina? Really? It was fine how it was.

Blows my mind how many are complaining about a company fixing their game.

Oh and for the record, when I complain about patches for multiplat games, it's that they either wait 6-12 months after release or don't fix them at all.

DjEezzy

I was thinking the same thing Kraygen…

Sure updates can get annoying but really… I'd rather have updates then to have a permanently broken game. As Jawk said. Games are alot more complicated to make now. Games with multiplayer, i would think, would be much harder. Sure you can run it through QA a bunch of times but you'll never know until you have a million people online playing the game at once to see what's really going on.

Is anyone getting the sharpshooter attachment for this? I just found out about it today and I think it has great potential. I like how they were able to remap the buttons. I hope it works well because it sure looks like it should. I won't be able to get one for a few weeks but I would sure like to hear from anyone that does get it.
