It's one of the most popular FPS franchises out there and in 2010, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 received our Shooter of the Year award.
DICE is a premier developer in this industry, and they're not about to abandon one of the most accomplished names today: it has been revealed that Battlefield 3 will hit store shelves this fall. Scheduled for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, the game will be available in limited edition form (details coming soon) and unsurprisingly, will boast both a single-player campaign and an involved online multiplayer component. Max player support? 64. Plus, we'll get true-blue co-op for the campaign, which ought to make many shooter aficionados happy, and we'll even be able to pilot jets around. This new installment will feature DICE's upgraded Frostbite 2 engine; the original Frostbite was utilized in the first two Bad Company titles as well as Medal of Honor . The latter was technically developed by Danger Close, but Dice handled the multiplayer, remember?
Evidently, we'll play as a U.S. Marine who will be dropped into battle situations all around the world. That includes major cities like Paris and New York, so variety of locales shouldn't be an issue. In all honesty, we'll probably be more excited about Battlefield 3 than Modern Warfare 3 …but maybe that's just us.
