EA's third-quarter earnings are in, and three major titles have performed very well thus far.
First and foremost, EA's net revenue fell 15% to $1.05 billion, down from the tallied $1.24 billion from the third quarter last year. Net losses also rose; that unfortunate number hit $322 million, which is way up from the $82 million suffered in the previous third quarter. However, they did say they're the #1 publisher for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 during 2010 in Western markets, and several big games hit big. Danger Close's Medal of Honor and Criterion's Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit have shipped over 5 million units to date, and as we deemed both to be quality titles, that's good news. But none of that was able to help EA in the revenue department, although they're off to a good start this quarter.
The publisher has revealed they've already shipped 2 million copies of the recently released Dead Space 2 , and that number was reached in only one week of availability. This means the sequel is outselling the original at a 2-to-1 clip, which isn't exactly surprising. The critics love it and EA has done a good job hyping Visceral's intense, horrific follow-up effort. So, which of these three big games do you own?
