We know Resistance 3 is coming; it has been revealed with a September 6, 2011 launch date. We also know that most FPSs don't get released without first going through a beta test these days, and when it comes to a major title like Resistance , the beta is inevitable. What we didn't know is that the game already appears to be in a closed beta testing phase: this screenshot taken by a BitBag reader clearly shows someone playing the "Resistance 3 BETA." However, without anything official – and this does feel a little early – we have to take the evidence with a grain of salt, even if we're hopeful that beta information will be available soon. Remember, Resistance 2 supported an insane 60 players online; the most we'd ever seen until MAG showed up.
We're wondering if Insomniac is keeping that 60-player feature for R3, or if they're actually upping the ante again… Well, either way, it appears we now have to stay on the lookout for more proof of a Resistance 3 beta. Once we learn that it does exist, we want in. How about you?

First thing's first, man… I'm currently honing my FPS skills with MAG.
I'm eagerly waiting Killzone 3 to show up!
After I'm done that, then I'll happily look forward to Resistance 3! The teaser trailer for that looked pretty awesome.
I've seen some crazy things being played on those things, on my own buddy list, which have never come to fruition. But at least we know it will come at some point.
I won't lose any sleep if I don't get an invite though, I want the SP.

Well that's… early. But then, should it come as any surprise? They already annnounced that the game was finished from beginning to end and all they had left to do was polish it. And I'd also say that they ARE going to kick it up another notch from the sixty players, and perhaps give us one hundred. They're going to need to find a way to keep the games from becoming a cluster**** though. I heard that was a problem with R2.

I've heard the contrary from Insomniac regarding the number of players for online mp, but ya never know.
Well, I heard that they killed support for the eight player multiplayer, so you may be right. Also, there's a hands-on preview of the game at IGN. They make it sound really good.
If I remember correctly, Imsomniac said they are scaling back the number of online players this time, they felt it wasn't balanced for the size of the maps.
I hope thay include some kind of vehicles this time, it's a twist in pacing that keeps gameplay fresh.
Yup, and the online/split-screen coop will supposedly making a return, too.
I could have sworn that I heard them say they were cutting multiplayer down some to keep things more controlled. Then again they could just pull a MAG and make it huge and have leaders.
I beta tested R2 back in i believe 08.. I reported many bugs, errors, glitches, etc and i believe i made more reports than anyone else beta testing the game.. I hate how people think beta testing is just a free play at a game that's not out yet… there's a certain level of work involved.. but watever 🙂 If I could beta test R3, it would be sick 🙂

There's a very high chance that this is fake. With CFW on your jailbroken PS3, you can change the name of almost any game you are playing. My friends pull this crap all the time, with their XMB status saying "HALO 8 BETA" "UNCHARTED 3 BETA" "JAK AND DAXTER 4 BETA" "STARHAWK BETA" "My weed smells gods vagina 2" etc etc. You get the idea…anyways, I hope this is real.
That is true but you are unable to play/login to the psn with a jailbroken ps3. Which makes this more interesting

I thought GameInformer's article on R3 said they were scaling back multiplayer to 32 players and getting rid of 8 player coop because they thought it was too chaotic?
Either way, I'm hoping this is real. Can't wait to try out the public beta.

I felt the multiplayer was a little bit lost but really good. I hope that resistance 3 will have more co-op modes such as chimera survival mode with endless waves of grims. You run around each part of a fallen city every so often randomly a gate will open where players can advance through a thought run down a challenge section where there could be special enimies like hellhounds and perks as well as a mystery box like thing. I want something like that because that would be awesome i can see resistance survival like mode. After all the game is called resistance where you must resist the chimera!!!!
I definitely want to get in this beta if it's real. Resistance is one of the most underrated series out there.
BTW..They've already said the online co-op has been scrapped. That's a downer b/c a lot of people played R2 for that online co-op. They're giving us co-op in the campaign split screen format..meh..I don't really like split screen that much..
They did say they were scaling the online players down to 32 so we won't see the 60. A lot of changes to the online format..that..simply isn't sitting well with the hardcore fans..I trust them though..
Resistance was a fantastic ps3 opener that i believe is playable even now. excellent story, for 1 or 2 players and multiplayer was fun (although too many 1 hit kill maps). i think it was my first eperience of online play! Res2 story i thought was good and had better graphics although i really missed the unique "colouring" of 1st one. Co-op was good but so limited. if the 8 players could have gone through story mode that would have been so much better. Online vs, i was outclassed. i started late and just could not get into it, i was killed so early but could not kill anyone else – so gave up. I hope Res3 has multiplayer co-op of story mode (maybe up to 4 including splitscreen?). i am really looking forward to Res3 but it needs to include what worked in both the first 2.
