The SOCOM followers are numerous and vocal, and they once again have reason to get excited: a certain release date is here.
As announced at the PlayStation Blog , SOCOM 4 will hit North American stores on April 19, and we even get an all-new multiplayer trailer to tide us over. The game boasts a robust single-player campaign and of course, its bread-and-butter, numerous multiplayer modes. That "Not For Self" video is certainly impressive and if you're really into tactical, realistic shooters that require a healthy helping of patience and strategy, this is the experience you've been waiting for. If you're a big-time CoD or Halo fan, you probably won't be into SOCOM but then again, fans of the latter like that. If you decide to pre-order at GameStop, you'll land the exclusive "Abandoned" map for extra multiplayer fun, so maybe you should drop the $5. Zipper also says to keep an eye out for even more updates and media as we count down to the April 19 date, so stay tuned to the Blog…that, and PSXE. We do lots of daily updates, too.
Remember, SOCOM 4 also supports PlayStation Move, and we'd recommend a rifle accessory if you're interested.
