Telltale Games just finished up their Back to the Future project (which has been getting rave reviews, by the way), and they also have the rights to make a new adventure based on "Jurassic Park."
However, don't think the dinosaur-based adventure will be anything like BttF or past Telltale titles; the new project has forced the team to rethink how they'll approach creation of the game. In fact, according to Game Informer (as noted by The Escapist ), we're not looking at another FPS, as past Jurassic Park entries have been. Instead, for Jurassic Park: Episode 1 , Telltale believes they should focus on "slower-paced character building with the tense and terrifying experience of a dinosaur jumping out of a bush." So which game are they using as inspiration? Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain , which boasted a huge emphasis on storytelling and player choice. Right now, they're still working on the gameplay but executive director Kevin Boyle says players will have to "investigate and explore, which will be followed by tense portions that leave players scrambling and possibly performing Heavy Rain style inputs."
They'll even implement that aforementioned freedom, as certain choices will force you down a different path. Telltale admits this won't be anywhere near as open-ended as Heavy Rain , though. By the way, this new game will actually be a sequel to the original film, and "cover various unanswered plot points." Sounds interesting.
It does sound interesting. Ilove Jurassic Park, well the first one. Im glad its not a FPS, I dont think a single dinosaur died from gunfire in the movie anyway.
You're right. Most of them were either devoured or outsmarted; no guns needed.
yeah that sounds pretty interesting, why did they make it FPS during past neway?
The same reason they made Goldeneye a FPS and the new Harry Potter game a shooter: developers of licensed games (especially) aim for the lowest common denominator.
Why would you want a licensed game to feel like its original property?
That actually sounds pretty good.
Sounds kool I never really played a Jurassic Park game except one that was on Sega and I haven't watched any of the movies
Wow. I am sure loving how Heavy Rain has changed gaming.
Judging by what I have read, Jurassic Park could be a day one purchase.
An adventure game… How long did it take devs to work out that that was the way to do Jurassic Park? A good call indeed, and the tense atmosphere offered by HR styled scenes should be just grand. Keeping it in mind.
Peace.
With Heavy Rain as their inspiration, I'm definitely interested in seeing what they do with this game.
The 1st Jurassic Park will always be a classic. I like the 2nd & 3rd but they just were nowhere near up to the standards of the 1st. I read somewhere they suppose to be making a new Jurassic Park & if so I hope that it turns out to be good.

Jurassic Park is my favorite movie as a child. So im really hoping this turns out good. I love heavy rain and love how it has made such a huge impact on the more story driven games. Gunna keep my eye on this one..
Very cool. Jurassic Park is one of my all time favourite movies and I've been a little more than disappointed with the video game adaptations in the past.
Thank you Heavy Rain! I can't think of a better approach to making a Jurassic Park video game than this. I sure hope they can capture the awe, wonder, and tension we all felt when we first saw that film 17 years ago… yikes! I'm gettin old.
This is a fantastic idea. What was great about JP and Heavy Rain was that intensely TENSE feeling you get while trying to stay alive and make the right decisions in time. Who wasn't on edge when trying to get Madison to escape the surgeon's table? If they can add that kind of intensity to an adventure that is constantly threatened by dinosaurs then that could be really good. However, graphics are going to be important and I dunno if Telltale can handle that.
Oh yeah, let's get a reboot in the survival horror genre for Dino Crisis while we're strolling down dinosaur lane.
Next time I play through I'm not drinking anything. I even thought to myself… you really shouldn't drink this…. But he was so polite the second time!
You get a trophy for not drinking 🙂
I tried not drinking the first time but pressed the wrong button.
Damnit. where do u get all your avatar/pictures lol.
Yup JP is a great movie but yall should check out the book! Three words: Dr. Ian. Malcolm.
Agreed! The JP book (and The Lost World as well) were fantastic novels. Waaaaay better than the movies.

Agreed, fantastic books. And JP2 the movie didn't resemble the book at all.
COME ON!!!!!!!!!! Trespasser 2! I want the arm to make a return! 🙂 I am totally kidding! Trespasser had a great idea but it was not implemented very well. This sounds great and I really enjoy Telltale's games. This is a win/win situation. JP1 was a fantastic movie! Cannot wait to see how it turns out.
I love Jurassic Park, I love Heavy Rain.
Sounds like a marriage made in heaven to me.
I believe Jurassic Park 4 is secretly under production. Someone at Universal Studios on a tour took a picture of a sign that confirmed this.
Yes it's being made. The shooting schedule for it is posted at Universal Studios as you enter.
I've really enjoyed Back to the Future so far. I have no doubts that Telltale will make a worthy Jurassic Park game.
wait wait wait…
heavy rain in jurassic park?
win
i hope it isnt to much like heavy rain with a game like this i dont think multiple choices would suit the game but i do like that there going for a intence character drivin story and i love JP so im excited
Sounds awesome.
Wait, past Jurassic park games have been FPS WTF there is hardly any shooting in the movie. Only like two dinasours were killed by getting shot.
is it sad that I want both a Back to the Future and Jurassic Park lego game?
…heh…
I still think a transformers lego game would be pretty sweet.
